First of all, I know gratitude and the Law of Attraction for some of you will sound a little airy fairy and seem like it has nothing at all to do with writing, but just stick with me because soon it will all make sense...
Remember The Secret? It was based on The Law of Attraction, which actually has scientific merit and origins that began with the Greek philosopher Plato who described the phenomenon as 'likes tend toward likes'.
Wait - I'm not telling you to manifest your completed book, there's a little more to it than that...
So what does gratitude and the Law of Attraction have to do with you becoming a published author?
Everything!
In a moment you're going to learn how these ideas, when used correctly, are scientifically proven to help you to take action writing your book.
How awesome is that?
But first of all, let me ask you about headaches - not because they can be a pain when we want to write, but as an example to show you what I mean about the Law of Attraction and how it can help you finish your book.
Think about the last time you had an annoying headache. Not a migraine or anything severe, just a pain that was enough to be a pest.
Sometimes when I have these I sit and think to myself, 'Geez this headache is really killing me', or 'Maybe now I don't have to go to that meeting since I actually do have a headache it wouldn't be a total lie to say I'm sick' - and suddenly the pain seems to grow a lot worse.
Or think of it the other way....
Have you ever had that same kind of headache and then suddenly the phone rings and your friend has tickets to your absolute favourite band or someone you love has a major emergency and needs your help right away?
Suddenly you forget all about the headache, right?
According to award-winning author and CEO of NeuroBusiness Group Dr Srinivasan Pillay, that's because the part of our brain that creates intention is connected to the region of our brain involved with action.
So what has all this brain activity got to do with a headache?
It means that when you place your attention or focus (intention) on a certain feeling (your headache), that focus can actually worsen (action) the pain.
Put simply, there is scientific proof that if we focus on something it increases the impact of whatever it is we are focusing on...
Alternatively, when we move our attention away from the pain it decreases.
Let me explain it another way.
Have you ever noticed that when we focus our eyes intently on one thing, slowly everything in our peripheral falls away.
