Crushing on Sky

"Hey Sky!" Someone said as I took a bite of a brownie I just ordered.

Sky is usually by themself at the café. It was strange hearing someone else besides the bartender say their name. I can see they're eyes jet up towards the person Smiling when they recognize them. Which yes, melted my heart.

"Adam" Sky's soft voice echoed into my ears.

I only knew one person named Adam and they were a satyr. I wonder if it was him? I looked through my magazine again and to my shock I was right. Standing there with Adam, one of the new satyrs at camp. I didn't know him much other than he's kind of a douchebag. Why would Adam be hanging out with Sky? I mean do satyrs usually have relationships with mortals? I nearly cut open my lip thinking about it.

"So how is school?" I heard Adam say through my microphone AirPods courtesy of Team Leo Company Organization. I mean that man knows exactly what you need to get the love interest.

"Ok can't believe I had to transfer again" Sky groaned back.

"How many does that make it this year?"

"Fourth time, but when your mom is a military general" they spoke as if rehearsed or memorized.

"Yeah I got you" Adam said clearly never having a day of school in his life.

"You still go to that Academy we both went to?" I stand, well sit, corrected Adam has been to school shocking to both of us.

"No, kind of dropped out" Adam sighed back sitting down.

I started to drift off into my thoughts because nothing important was happening in their conversation. I began to think of what team I should join to capture the flag tomorrow. The Ares cabin really knows how to fight but the Athena cabin knows how to plan. It would be nice to know what team Jacob would be a part of but he's never in charge. I know for sure Estelle would join the Ares kids just to spite my dad. Their sibling rivalry is one of the scariest things to ever come to this planet.

"Ash," someone said. I quickly focused back into reality, clicked a button on the newspaper so it looks like it's a newspaper and not a see-through copy, looked up and smiled.

"Adam! Man, I didn't know you like coffee!" I tried to sound surprised but it came with more excitement than anything else.

"What are you doing outside of camp?" Number one problem with being the only child of two gods is that everyone knows where you're supposed to be and when. So you don't have the excuse of oh I'm visiting my mother or my dad is sick and he might die. No, both my parents are healthy immortal beings who post on Instagram everything they're doing all the time.

"Just wanted some coffee" I said back to him.

"Well I am not going to get in trouble because you decided to go on a little vacation from camp come on let's go!" He motioned for me to get up. I sighed doing so. Giving one last glance to my crush who was staring right at me. I freaked out and looked away really quickly then calmly ran out of the café. I should probably mention they never looked at me before. There was this awkward silence between me and Adam as we walked back to camp.

"So how do you know Sky?" I said finally getting the courage to ask him.

"They're a demigod. I'm trying to figure out how to get them to camp" he said without a second of hesitation.

"Wait, they're a demigod?!" I couldn't quite believe it. I mean I thought I was having a crush on a normal human but a demigod. Well that's the deadliest dream I ever had but we could go on the lake for dates and talk about which monster we hate the most.

"How do you know Sky?" Adam said, shattering my daydream.

"I saw them a couple of times in the coffee shop" I said quickly so he wouldn't notice I've been going to the coffee shop for some time.

"Did you talk to them? Because by the way you freaked out when Sky looked at you doesn't seem like you have," this dude really pays attention to everything not cool.

"Right, yeah I didn't talk to them at all, but I know their coffee order by heart," do I know when to shut up? I don't think so.

"You're a stalker!" Adam said laughing.

"No!" I really didn't know how to defend myself in the situation.

"Oh I can't wait the tell Estelle that you were stalking someone in a coffee shop"

"Don't tell her! Please man, I'm begging you, I just don't have the courage to talk to them yet, OK?" I said stopping in my tracks.

"Ok." He said then turned to me, "but you have to make a deal with me. You're not allowed to leave camp, is that a fair deal?" He put his hand out. I really didn't wanna make this deal but I really didn't want my aunt to know anything more about me. So I put my hand out and shake it.

"Yeah" I sighed. Who knew you could give your freedom up that easily.
