They were quarreling again.

His parents.

He sighed and plugged in his headphones. "This is going to be a long night," he muttered to himself.

He was used to it by now, they would argue everyday about the smallest things possible, but mostly about him.

He knew that his dad hated him. His parents would always try to lower down their voices, but he knew it. He knew that he was a loser, and a freak. He was always the one left out, or the one who was ignored.

He shook away his thoughts and went to his playlist on his phone. Always by Blink 182 came on shuffle. He laid on his bed under the blankets, his favorite time of the day. He felt secure and safe from anything that was happening outside the terrifying world.

After listening to his playlist, silence came. Then, the sound of his parents bickering and shouting seeped through the walls of his bedroom. All of the events from today came flooding back to his head.

-Flashback-

"Hey loser? Loser? I am talking to you, are you death?" James shouted at Luke.

He was with his friend, Isaac. They were the school's biggest bully and everyone was scared of them.

Luke walked faster because the school bell rang and he didn't want to be late.

They strided up to Luke. "So you are ignoring me? Are you? Answer me! You know that's not very smart," James slammed Luke against the lockers by the collar of his shirt.

The whole hallway was silent and no one dared to move. Everyone's attention was on the boys. Luke knew the best thing to do was to answer them quickly, but he couldn't speak. His throat was dry and he was trembling with fear. He was aware of dozens of blinking eyes staring at him and all he wanted to do is to disappear. He had always hated attention.

Before he could do anything, he felt a hard blow on his cheek. He lost his balance and fell onto the floor. He hadn't even recovered from the shock when he got a hard kick in the guts.

"That will teach you a lesson for ignoring us." Isaac snickered at the sight of Luke lying on the floor helplessly. Then they left.

Everyone ignored Luke and rushed to class. Luke was left, alone. No one came to help him. He didn't even care why he was bullied or why no one liked him anymore, things were like this from the beginning and he could never change it. He touched his cheek and whimpered in pain. It felt hot under his cool fingers.

Michael, Luke's only friend, was walking past when he saw Luke on the ground. He quickly rushed to him.

"Oh my god, are you alright? Ok, that's a dumb question. You are obviously not alright. Is it them again? I swear I am going to punch their smug faces as har-"
He balled up his fists as he was saying this but was cut off by Luke.

"N-no, don-don't do that. That will only make this worse than before. Just help me up."

Michael sighed and held out his hand to help Luke. "Just tell me if you ever need help," He said. Luke stood up and Michael began to walk away.

He was almost down the hall when Luke called out to him,

"Michael, um thanks. I don't know how I would do without you."
