Chapter 41

After the dinner, the two couple separated ways as they have their own cars to drive them home.

Rob opened the car for his wife as he could see how exhausted the Broadway star is. He knew what kind of serious conversation Lea had just gone through with Ellie's mom.

The Chinese-Japanese man started the car after making sure all their seat belts were on.

Despite being tired with tonight's engagement, the singer still tried to open up a conversation as her husband drives along EDSA.

"So, how was it with Eleazar?"

"It was good. He's actually cool."

"What did you guys talk about?" she asks curiously. Lea wanted to check if her husband got any luck of having just a normal conversation with Ellie's dad unlike her very own experience with Rebecca.

"Well, for starters, I've come to know that they're actually very thoughtful. You see, knowing that you're kind of famous throughout the world, they didn't want other patrons to hear what they want to discuss with you.."

"Ahh. So that's why they reserved all those tables around us."

"Yep."

There was gloom on the singer's youthful face that could not escape notice from Rob.

"Are you against it?"

"Huh, against what?" the Broadway star were startled with her husband's inquiry.

"With them forcing El to marry her ex."

"Ahh, so her dad told you about it."

"Uh-huh."

Lea let out a deep sigh which Rob fully understands. After all, his wife is fully attached to the young woman. Every little thing about El affects his wife.

"It's not like we can do anything about it. I'm just.. Shocked and all. El hasn't mentioned anything for that matter."

"Well, maybe she's not ready to share it yet. I mean from what I understand, Ellie is really against that idea. Making her run away from her own home."

"Maybe you're right."

Rob maintains his footing on the clutch and on the brake pedal as they remain stuck on the highway. He knew that later on, Lea would be finding it hard to sleep if she's unable to let out all her thoughts for tonight.

"Would you tell Ellie about us meeting her parents?"

"I-I'm not really sure.. I mean I actually told Rebecca where she stays for the night. El might get mad at me for squealing her whereabouts."

"Hmm.. Eleazar told me that even if they knew where she would be, they'd not actually force El to go home. They would just like to make sure that she's still within range."

"Yeah. Rebecca said something like that as well. She just told me that they'll wait for El to personally go back home. But I'm not sure if I actually did the right thing hon."

"Why? What makes you think that way?"

"Should we have declined their invitation instead? That way there will be no chance for them to know where El is and she could just remain hiding?" There was a hint of worry and fear in Lea's words.

Rob could feel that his wife's conversation with El's mother were so intense making Lea speak that way.

"Listen, Ellie would actually go to Nix' school tomorrow to attend their sibling's day event. Why don't you take that chance to explain everything to her personally."
