Chpater 1

Emma's POV
I had found I was pregnant with Xander's baby.  I knew I had to tell him and I was gonna so I called him over to the penthouse. My parents weren't home well they never are so it's fine he can come over but my nanny might not be ok with it but oh well. I was sitting on the couch with the test in my hands as I heard the elevator ding so I turned my head and it was Xander. "Hey Xandy." I said as I kissed him and yes we are dating. "Em I have to tell you something." He said as we sat down on my couch. "I have something to tell you too." I said as my hands were in his. "You go first." He said as I put the test into his hand. He looked at it all happy. "I'm pregnant." I said as he looked so happy but sad at the same time. "Em I have to move. My dad got a new job in Maine. I'm sorry Em I wanna be here for the baby but I can't. I'll tell them about it ok. I love you." He said as he got up. I wanted to cry but I knew he loved me. "I love you too." I said as he went to the elevator. I started to cry and ran to him. He turned around and I kissed him the whole elevator ride down. That was the last day I saw him but I knew he loved me and the baby with all his heart.
A year later
Jessie's POV
I was in a cab in New York and I was talking to the cab driver. "So then my dad, who's in the marine corps, practically blew his flat top when I told him I was moving to New York, but he chilled when I told him I had a great job. Do you know where I can find a great job?" I say to the cab driver as I sip my drink. The Cab driver closes partition screen and I look offended. "Alright, someone needs some alone time..." I say as I had a look on my face. The Cab driver takes a violent turn and I jerked around in the backseat.

I was looking through my purse. "Wait, my wallet's gone!" I said as I Continue fumbling through my purse. "Someone must have stolen it..." I said as I laugh weakly. "I don't suppose I can pay you in lip gloss and breath mints?" I said as the Cab driver pulls over to The Fairfield and I slam into the partition. "They're wintergreen..." I said as I was kicked out of the cab and I grunt while two people watched it happen. "That was rude!" I said as my suitcase is thrown out. "Ha, ha, you missed me!" I said as I get hit with my cup so I rub my head while a little girl looks amused. The Cab drives away and this guy runs over to me. He helps me stand. "Whoa, you must be a really bad tipper! I'm Tony." The guy said as I shake Tony's hand. "I'm Jessie." I said as the little girl takes one of my bras. "And I'm guessing this is yours?" The little girl says as she's holding my bra. "Oh, thank you sweetie..." I said as I laugh awkwardly. "That's just my... slingshot!" I said as I laugh again. We go up an elevator to the an apartment that opens up to what might have been this little girls apartment. The little showed me as she as I pulled along by the little girl as a butler is dusting the piano. "Whoa! This is like the Astrodome! But with better furniture." I said as I looked around the apartment. "Look, Bertram! I found a new nanny in the street!" She said as Jumps up and down. "Can we keep her?!" She said as she looked all happy. "If she doesn't poop on the floor, it's fine with me." He said as he dusts a picture frame. "Wait, don't you wanna ask me anymore questions?" I said as I looked curios on why he didn't. "Do you poop on the floor?" He said sarcastically. "No..." I said. "Congratulations! You just made the first cut! Wait here, the parents will be home soon to interview you." He said more sarcastically as the little girl pulls me to the couch. "All this, and all I have to do is take care of one, cute little girl!" I said as I poke her nose than I heard a scream so I turn and watch these three other kids chase eachother into the living room.
Emma's POV
"LUKE! Give me back my moon!" I said as I try to take it from Luke. "No way!" He said as he's still holding it. I didn't wanna wake up Destiny and Lydia so I tried to be quiet but Luke made me yell because he took my moon for my science project so I had to get it back from him. "But I need it for my solar system!" I said as I tried not yell this time. " I'll show you a moon!" He said as he starts to turn I push Luke onto this lady and Zuri who was standing. "Okay, okay!" This lady says as she grunts. I crawl over her to get to Luke and Ravi does the same. I hit Luke with a pillow. You could hear screams from us fighting with eachother and the lady chokes and coughs. "Please tell me those kids are in the wrong apartment!" She says as I knew meant us. "Those are my brothers and sister." Zuri said. "Or as I call them, the Nannykillers." Bertram said. "Luke, Emma, please, violence is never the solution." Ravi said as I hit him with a pillow. "To heck with the non-violence! I am on you like stripes on a tiger!" He said as he grabs on to me and I scream. Our pillow fighting resumes on the floor next to the couch. "I'm the good child. Make me brownies." My sister says as I'm still fighting with my brothers on the floor. The lady tries to stop our fighting and she grabs Luke. "Uh,hey! Release! Release! Huh, usually works with the dogs back home..." she says as Luke successfully moves to the couch. "She doesn't know it's a bra!" My sister says she laughs. Nanny Kay our old nanny runs screaming out. "Bye, nanny! ...Whatever your name was..." Zuri says as she turns to the lady. "Hey, Jessie, wanna be my new nanny?" my sister had said to Jessie. "Aww, thank you sweetie, but I didn't come all the way from Fort Hood, in Texas, just to be a babysitter." Jessie said as she stands. "I came to New York to follow my dreams, cause this is where dreams come true!" She said. "Yeah. Right. Until then, I like my grilled cheese cut in triangles, and my tutu starched! " My sister said sarcastically as she grabs Jessie's hand and Jessie grabs her purse. "Hello, I'm Luke...and you are?" My brother says as I hear one of the girls cry. "Way too old for you. She says as she hits Luke with a pillow. while Jessie turns to speak to Zuri. "Do you kids fight like this in front of your parents?" She said as I ran upstairs to get the twins so Jessie could meet them but before I could get upstairs to my crying twins the elevator door opens showing my mom and dad kissing. "Sometimes, but they never come up for air long enough to notice..." Zuri said as we all Shouted and our parents run to hug us.
"Their parents are Morgan and Christina Ross, the famous movie director and supermodel-turned-business-mogul?!" Jessie said to Bertram. "No, they're sheep farmers." He says sarcastically. "Hey guys, we missed you so much!" My mom says to us. "And we brought presents!" My dad as he starts pulling things out and all I could hear was my crying twins which it was breaking my heart. Us and Jessie shout with delight. "Not for you, this isn't Oprah." Bertram says as Zuri pulls Jessie to the couch and stands on top of it. "This is Jessie. I want her to be our new nanny." She says. "So do I!" Luke says as I roll my eyes standing on the stairs about ready to get my crying twins. "Nanny Kay quit? Did she say anything before she left?" My mom said as she looked confused. " She said you'd be hearing from her lawyers...?" I said as I wasn't sure what she said when she left. My mom stares at my dad wide-eyed. "And then she said." Zuri said as she screams and Jessie laughs. "Who wants to see the cool toy that George Lucas gave me?" My dad said all excited. We all scream 'me'. Well not me but my dad pulls out a lightsaber and swings it. "Is that a real lightsaber?!" Jessie says as she's curious. "Of course not, it's just a prop..." My dad says as he swings it and the chair beside him is cut in half. We all look in shock. "AWESOME!" My brothers and sister scream with joy. "Oh, maybe we better go let that Ewok out of the toy chest...let's go!" My dad said as he grabs Zuri and Ravi but Luke follows them. My mom flips her hair. "Emma! How is your science project coming? I don't care what those judges said last year, I loved your glitter volcano!" She said to me as I was still on the stairs. "Mount Fabulous? Thanks Mom, but this year's going to be even better. I have a clipboard and everything. I'm gonna be super-sciency!" I said as excited about but still worried about the twins. "Okay, Daddy and I will be back tomorow in time for your science fair, but first we have to fly to the set of Galactapus 2." She said as Jessie gasped. "I loved the original Galactapus! It is the best giant radioactive space octopus movie of all time!" Jessie said. I could hear my baby girls crying more so I ran upstairs to check on them and bring them down. They are only one years old and I'm very protective of them and that's because ever since Xander left a year ago for Maine I knew he would want me to take good care of our daughters.
Jessie's POV
I was sitting at the Kitchen table with Christina Ross. "Well, according to our security team, you're a straight-A student, a universal blood donor- which could come in handy with our kids-AND, you have a squeaky-clean record! Except for once in third grade, you went to the bathroom without a hall pass..." She said. "If you tasted the cafeteria food, you'd completely understand... armadillo does not go down easy." I said as she sighs and grabs my hands. than stares at me extremely wide eyed. "What'cha doin'...?" I asked her. "Just gettin a read on ya. I have made a fortune trusting my instincts...that, and slapping my name on everything from sunglasses to cat food. You're hired!" She said as I was so excited. "Really?!" I said all happy still. "Yeah!" She said as I hug her. "Thank you!" I said as Luke runs in and he apparently was spying on us. "Mom! Can I date the new nanny?!" He said all giddy. "Let me think about it. No!" She said as she left the kitchen. "Oh well, ours will be a forbidden love..." he said."Starting now." I said as we leave the kitchen. I was in my room when I heard a knock so I open the door to see Luke standing there. "Hey, babe! Ready for our date?" He said as flowers come out of his tux. I take the flowers and put them in a vase. "We don't have a date." I said looking confused. "But I instructed Bertram to make us boeuf bourguignon!...with extra boeuf!" He says as it felt like he spit in my face kinda. "Just hold your boeuf!" I said as Emma walks by holding a plate of food and her phone plus these babies who looked one were following her. "From now on, we're all going to have dinner together..."I said as I put Emma's plate down. "Hey!" She said. "...as a family!" I said as Emma looked disgusted. "Eww, no, I can't eat and look at Luke at the same time!" She said looking even more disgusted. "And Jessie, don't you think having a bunch of kids on our date is kinda gonna kill the mood?" He said as I stare at Luke for a moment then I turn to Zuri's door. "Zuri, time for dinner!" I said as stood in her doorway. "I'm already eating dinner with my friend, Milly the Mermaid!" She said. "Zuri has imaginary friends." Emma said to me. "Well, I like my friends real, especially my lady friends..." he said as he smiled at me but I pushed him away. "Well, if Milly can flop down stairs, she is welcome to eat with us." I said.
"Thank you, but she won't do that. Luke makes her uncomfortable." She said as we all stare at Luke even the babies stared at him." ...What?" He said looking confused.
Emma's POV
Jessie wanted us to eat as a family. Yea um...no I'll pass trust me the girls hate looking at their uncle when they eat too. "Oh Jessie I want you to meet my daughters." I said as I turned to her. "Your daughters?" She said confused. "Yes my daughters. Their names are Destiny and Lydia." I said as I picked them but I handed Lydia to Jessie. "These babies are so cute." She said as she looked at Lydia. "Oh if you ask their dad moved to Maine a year ago but I know that their father loves me and them." I said as I put Destiny down and Jessie put Lydia down so she starts go to Ravi's room as she pulls Zuri along with her. "Ravi, time for dinner!" She said as she walked over to Ravi's door and knocked. There was no answer so Jessie reaches to open the door but Luke blocks her. "I wouldn't go in there if I were you!" Luke said as he stood by the door. " Why? Is there going to be some imaginary monster behind the door? She said as she opens the door and sees Mr. Kipling so she screams and closes the door. "That's Mr. Kipling." I said as I had the girls next to me. "Yeah, Ravi's giant, razor-toothed lizard." Luke said. "But I'm not allowed to have a pony?! That is cold." Zuri said looking all upset. We were eating like a family. I was sitting next to Luke but I had the girls next to me in their high chairs. "I cannot believe that you excluded Mr. Kipling from our family dinner." Ravi said looking upset that his lizard couldn't come to dinner. "Mr. Kipling was the only thing Ravi brought with him from India when we adopted him last month." Luke said as he looked over at Jessie. "Oh! So I couldn't board the plane with four ounces of shampoo but he gets to carry on a velociraptor!" Jessie said as we looked so bored and started playing with our food. "... So! Isn't this nice? ...Would anyone like to share about their day?" She asked as we were still bored even the twins looked bored. "I guess that's a no. Now can I go upstairs and finish my science project?" I said as I got up and got the girls out of their high chairs "...Okay, fine." Jessie says as I excitedly run upstairs with the girls following behind me.
Jessie's POV
Emma just left with the twins so it was just me, Ravi, Zuri, and Luke. "I must leave too. When Mr. Kipling is alone, he gets scared." Ravi said as he runs upstairs. "Of what?" I said. "I'm out too- this date was a total waste of clean underwear!" Luke said as he was almost out the kitchen door. "TMI. Now go do your homework." I said as he stood there still. "You're not the boss of me." He said as he was back sassing me. "Actually, I kind of am." I said to him. "Ooooh, someone's about to flip the table..." Zuri said still sitting at the table.
Luke did exaggerated gestures. "Well, you know what, babe, that doesn't work for me! In fact, that's it! This relationship is over!" He said as he stops at the stairs. "And to think, you coulda had all this!" He said as he dance-walks backwards before going up stairs. "He's delusional- Ha, look who I'm talking to, a girl who thinks mermaids are real..." I said as Zuri begins to cry about what I said. "N-n-n-n-n-no! N-n-n-n-n-n-no, no, what I meant-" I said as trying to say sorry. "Milly the Mermaid is real!" She was still there but not happy with me. "N-no, Zuri! N-n-no, no-" I said still trying to say sorry. "Last time I pick a nanny up out of the gutter!" She said as she went out the door. "Okay, I made everyone cookies...and where did everyone go?" I said as I came out with cookies but also wondering where the kids were. "Don't know, don't care. I think they might have run away because they hate you." Bertram says. "What? Why would you think that?" I said wondering why they hate me. "This note I found." He says he handed me the note so I reading the note and it said, "We're running away because we hate you..." I looked up from the note. "I read between the lines. And look, the H in 'hick' is backwards! It's adorable." Bertram said. "I can't lose all of the kids on my first day especially two one year olds! What're the parents going to say?!"I said as I panicked.
"I have no idea, but I say 'well done!'" He said
as I sigh. "I can't believe they all signed this mean note...even the mermaid!" I said looking down at the note but I did also see the twins names on their too. "I was going to sign it too but the pen...is so far away..."He says as I turn and leave. I go down to the lobby. "Tony! Have you seen the kids and Emma's twins?" I said sounding worried. "Nah, I never really pay attention to who comes in and out of here." Tony said. "They ran away! I lost four kids and two babies in two hours- that's gotta be some kind of record! " I said as I open the front doors of the building. "Oh, they're out there, somewhere!" I said as I looked outside. "They're on the roof..." Tony said as I looked inside and over at him. "What?!" I said wondering why they were on the roof. "...Flying in their dad's helicopter and the babies are with them." He said as he looked at a screen. "What?!" I said as I look at the screen and I see the kids climb into the helicopter, when Emma was getting in she was holding the twins. "Oh, this is bad, this is bad, this is bad, this is bad!" I said not knowing what to do.
Emma's POV
We come to the penthouse laughing at Jessie even the twins were laughing too. "I cannot believe you kids actually went up in a helicopter!" Jessie said as we still laughed. "We were only a few feet in the air..."Luke said as he laughed. "I was dangling from the landing skis!" She said as we laughed. "Oh! Oh, you think this is funny!"She said getting mad at us a little. "Not as funny as your hair!" I said as I laughed even more. "You know what? That's it! Everyone drop and give me twenty! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Hey, that includes Milly the Mermaid." She said as Zuri laughs. "Alright! If anybody eyeballs me, they're going in the hole." She says as she turns to Bertram."Do we have a hole?" She says to Bertram as the twins and I do twenty pushups. "Have you seen my room?" He says. I was sitting on the couch in the living room and Jessie comes down. The twins were next me on the couch playing on my tablet. "Emma, can I do anything for you?" She said as she walked over to me and the twins. "You can pack your bags and move to this planet!" I said as I point to a blue planet on my science project. "That's Earth." She said as I see my laptop. "Oooh! It's Mom and Dad!" I said as accepting the video call. "Hi sweetie! Hi girls!" She said as she waved at me and the twins who weren't paying attention so I told them to look at my laptop and they did. "Hi grandma." They said as they put my tablet down. "Hey honey and girls!" My dad as we waved at us too. "Hi grandpa." The girls said as they waved back. "Hi! Oh, don't look at my project; I want it to be a total surprise for tomorow!" I said as turned the laptop away from my project. "Em... about your project...we're really sorry, but we're not going to be able to make it." My mom said as she look not so happy. "Of course not! That would be cheating. I'm making it!" I said being sarcastic. "No, sweetie, my movie is running way behind schedule, I mean, Galactapus hasn't even devoured Angelina Jolie yet." My dad said into the video call. "And tomorow is the only day that Angelina can meet with me to discuss endorsing my new clothing line." My mom said into the video call.
"So...you're not going to be able to make the science fair?" I said looking upset. "You know how it is, sweetie, if I fall behind, the studio will fire me." My dad said. "We're really sorry..."My mom said. "It's okay- don't worry about it. Bye..." I said as I close the laptop. I know my parents say they love me. "Emma, you okay?" Jessie asks all worried. "Why wouldn't I be? I'm used to it." I said as I stand and move to the other side of the couch. "They missed my tenth birthday because of the first Galactopus, and they will probably miss my wedding because of Galactopus 3! I just wish Angelina Jolie would kill that stupid space squid!" I said as I run upstairs without the twins.
Jessie's POV
Emma ran upstairs without the twins so I say she was really upset. The twins looked upset because they saw their mommy upset. "Emma, wait! Here, I'll help you finish your project!" I said as I trip and drop Emma's project and I gasp. Zuri is on the steps and the twins are on the couch still. "Oh no." I said. "Don't worry Jessie; just do what I do, blame it on Luke." She said as she turns and yells. "Luke! You're in trouble!" She said as she winks at me.
Emma's POV
We were in the lobby and Jessie was sending us of to school. "Hey, Emma, good luck at the science fair, and remember that Pluto may need some extra glue." She said as she patted my back for support and good luck. "Doesn't matter. But thank you for staying up all night to help fix what Luke broke..." I said as I yelled pretty much. "It's not a big deal Emma." She said as I looked at the twins. "Come here and give mommy a kiss on the cheek girls." I said as I bent down slowly. They gave me a kiss on the cheek. I got back up and they said "Bye mommy." Jessie helped me up a little. "Thanks. Hey Jessie could you take the girls to day care." I said as I looked at Jessie and than down at the girls. "Yes I can Emma." She said as I saw Destiny grab Jessie's hand. "Thanks again Jessie." I said as I walked out the door.
Jessie's POV
The kids had just left well expect for Emma's daughters which she told me to drop off at day care which I will do. I was about to take the girls to day care when Tony talked. "Poor Emma is really disappointed, huh?" He said as I was almost out the door with the girls. "Yeah, I've been try'na reach her parents all morning, but all I get is a voicemail. I said as I sigh. "I need to get up there fast, so I can talk to them!" I said looking down at the girls. "Too bad you can't fly a helicopter..." He said. "Actually, I can!" I said. "You can?" He said as he was confused. "Yeah! My dad taught me! He also taught me how to survive in the desert with nothing but a toothpick and a bobbypin..." I said. "Really? My dad taught me how to hot-wire a car with a paperclip and a penny." He said as he throws me the keys for the helicopter. I took the girls to Day Care in the helicopter and I flew to the set Christina and Morgan were on.
Emma's POV
I was at the science fair and I see Jessie walk in with the girls. "Hey! Did I make it on time?" She said as the girls stood next to her. "I'm next, but I don't care..." I said as I sat there next to my girls. "Me neither! Let's bounce." Luke said as he gets up to leave but Jessie stops him.  "Hey. You're staying, and you should care! You worked really hard on this, you should be proud of yourself!" She said to me. "Jessie, it's not even-" I said as I looked down. "Emma, listen- I know your parents can't be here physically, but that doesn't mean they're not with you! They are, believe me. Look, it's like these planets! They're far away from eachother, right, but they have a gravitational pull. That always keeps them together. No matter what. That's what love is like! It stretches over any distance. It's too strong to be broken." She said as the kid before was wrapping up. "Our last contestant is Emma Ross." The Judge said and I didn't move at all. "Go on up there and kick some asteroid!" She said as I laughed and went up to present my project. My mom and dad arrive late. They wave at me and I wave at them and Jessie waves at me too. "This is a model of our solar system." I said as I flip a switch on the project and it glows and turns. "It demonstrates that even against massive opposing forces, one stronger force can keep everything together. That force is gravy. " I said as Jessie fake coughs to remind me. "Oh- That force is gravity that I Ik!" I said as Everyone claps for me. A part of my project falls off. The judges discuss this. "I'm so sorry- it's my fault."Jessie said as she whispered. "It's okay." I said as I whispered back at her. "And the winner- for her brilliant demonstration that Pluto is no longer considered a planet, thus discussing (?) previous scientific theory- is Emma Ross!" The Judge says as everyone cheers and I jump up and down. "We are so proud of you!" My mom says as I looked happy to hear that. "Why did you guys change your mind about coming?" I said looking confused. We went home for some ice cream. "I love victory sprinkles!" I said as I looked the girls who looked all gloomy because they wanted some so I let them lick some of mine. "Uh oh, face freeze!" Zuri says as she turns. "Oh, me too..." My dad says as well. "So Ravi... what's your favorite type of ice cream?" Luke asks our brother. "All of them. In India, we just had one kind- melted." He said as licked his ice cream. Mr. Kipling swipes at Jessie's ice cream and it drops to the floor in front of him. We all laughed at that even the girls laughed.
