"Science may have found a cure for most evils; but has no remedy for the worst of them all--- the apathy of human beings."
                          ~Helen Keller

"Shit shit shit I'm late. This can not be happening!" I started panicking in the back of my mom's car.

"I can't believe I'm going to be late, I'm never going to ever agree for you to drive me to school ever again" I say knowing that, that is a lie I can never say "no" to her rides on the first day of school, it's our thing.

"Calm down honey, it's the first day back to school not the middle of exams week" My mom says, "It's not that bad".

My mom works for an advertisement agency as the CFO, so she likes to bend the rules little bit. Exhibition A, arriving ten minutes late for work.

According to her, she is reaping the benefits of her labour. I think it's just so she can piss off her boss who gives a whole new definition to the words old and miserable. Her words not mine.

"That's easy for you to say, I'm not the one dating the principal, can't believe I'm going to be late" I murmured.
Just thinking about the eyes that are going to be on me the minute I walk into class just makes me wanna--

"Watch it young lady!" Mom interrupts my thoughts.

"I'm sorry I guess I'm still a little bitter that you brought him over yesterday without notice." I said in a bored tone emphasizing on the last two words while trying to make up for my sour behavior.

Terry Thomas, my principal also know as Mr.T to the more popular crowd of school, is an average weight, white male of about forty years of age with a terrible sense of fashion.
Though it seems to have been improving since he started dating my mom over the summer break.

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the man but, I do have something against the notion of people finding out about their relationship.
I like to stay hidden in our small suburban area in Florida known as Palm Valley.

I mean, I love my mom she's gorgeous and all but some parents go to a PTA meeting and come out with complains.
But no, not Ms Blanks, she comes out with a date proposal from no one other than principal himself

"It's alright I guess. I hope you have everything you need." She asks.

"Yes mom"I replied to her while looking out through the window.

"Hey listen I want you to have a good day sign up for some clubs or something and please remove those glasses they look atrocious "Referring to the glasses I don't need to wear so often but do anyway.

" Mom I told you they add personality to my look." I said without looking up knowing the look I was going to be receiving from her.

She doesn't disappoint as I hear her sigh and put on the radio. Drowning us in music for the rest of the car ride.

I still can't believe I'm going to be late.
