ORISH

The flight to Baltimore wasn't as long as I chalked it up to be. Fifty-six mintues in the air was nothing. But here I was, coming from North Carolina to stay with my cousin for half a year to get away from some family drama. Life in the south wasn't so bad, but when you had a family like mine that always started some shit and was always into some shit, that's when you needed a break from all of the foolishness. This was my break. My vacation. Besides, I just wanted to know how life was like up north. I mean, I've heard about Baltimore plenty of times and the accent here is sexy ass hell. Hell, I heard the niggas were fine as shit, too. And the females? We know how most bitches can be.

I knew being in Maryland for half a year I will have to find a job to work temporarily to keep a few dollars in my pockets. I had no problem in doing just that and I for damn sure didn't want to live off of my cousin either. Even though she said I didn't have to help with rent because my stay was only temporary, she just wanted for me to enjoy myself, explore the city, and just unwind. And who was I to pass that up? All in all, I was just happy to be out of North Carolina and finally having the chance to enjoy a new scenery and environment.

Now landed in Baltimore, and retrieving my suitcase from baggage claim, I walk towards the front of the airport in hopes of spotting my cousin in the crowd, and unfortunately, I didn't see her. She said she would be here once I've made it and that was nearly ten minutes ago. That's when I grabbed my phone from my back pocket and tried texting her until I heard her familiar voice from a distance. I turned around behind me and there she was-looking the same with a few changes-smiling from ear to ear as she approched me. I couldn't help but to smile myself 'cause it's been two whole years since we've seen each other last and Krishell and I were close kin; we were like two peas in a pod. We grew up together before her parents decided to move up north many years ago. Couldn't say that I blamed them.

Most times, the only way for us to see each other was when she came down to Charlotte for our annual family reunions and after two days of visiting the family, she was gone. If I had to be completely honest, I really missed my cousin. The memories we share are memories I treasure and that I keep close to my heart. She was like a sister to me and the fact we are the same age (seven months apart, me being the oldest) was the reason why we're as close as we were and still are to this very day. Distance couldn't change that at all.

"Goddamn, Ori!" She said loudly, her accent seeping through. "Look at you, ma."

"Hey, Shell!" I said with a smile as we embraced.

Our bodies rocked before she took a step back and looked me over. "You all tatted up to ya neck and shit. You've changed so much."

I casually shrugged. "Yeah. I had decided to get some ink, and I ain't ever think I'd get this many done."

"They look good on you, though," she complimented, scanning the tattoos that were visible, "you really about to have these niggas all over you already."

I rolled my eyes jokingly. "Girl, cut that out. I'm tryin' to relax and be drama free. Niggas these days come with a headache and baby mama drama."

She laughed. "Yo, relax, cuz. I was just messin, but you didn't lie, though."

I gave her a once over and seen how so much has changed with her physically. I remember Krishell's hair was damned near to the middle of her back and now she was sporting an extremely short look, the small stubbles of her hair dyed a deep blue that complimented her dark skin so well. And she had picked up a few pounds that settled into her thighs, hips, and ass. She looked fine as fuck.

"You talkin' about me, but you the one with the big change. Ya hair? Wassup with that?"

Krishell rolled her eyes and sighed exaggeratedly, "I'll tell you all about it on the ride to the house. We have a lot of catching up to do anyway." I nodded in agreement as we both headed out of the airport to her car.
