//Emily//

I'm Emily and I'm 17 years old. I have dual nationality because my mom is Portuguese and my father is from England. I was born in Portugal but I moved to England when I was two years old and because of that I don't remember how it was life in Portugal. I'd love to go there and to visit my family, but my parents don't think that's good idea ...

And I love living in London, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I wonder if it would be better to live in Portugal!

Since I started with this idea of going back to Portugal and to meet the rest of my family, my parents have been suspicious that I will run away from England ...

//Flashback//

"Mom, come on I had excellent grades! Let me go to Portugal, please! You said you'd let me if I had good grades!"

"Your father has already answered you, he said no, if he said no I will not contradict him! I'm done with this conversation!"

"But mother-"

"No buts! I won't talk about this again!" She said it almost yelling at me ... Ugh, she chafes easily.

After our "pleasant" conversation, my mother left the room and went to her room to talk to my father. I couldn't help it and tried to listen to what they were talking about, because they only talk in their room when it's something very important...

"This can not go on like this!" I hear the voice of my father "She has to stop with this idea of going to Portugal!" Said my father with a loud voice.

"I know Steve, but she won't listen me and she keeps insisting more and more every time we tell her she can't go!" Said my mother with calm.

"I'm afraid of what she might do if we keep telling her she is not allowed to visit Portugal..."
My father said slowly. "You know what we'll have to do if she keeps insisting with this,don't you?"

"Unfortunately, I know and ... you're right, Steve, if she runs away, I'll feel guilty forever not being able to protect her."

What?? RUN AWAY? ME? This makes no sense!!

When I was about to scream with them, my subconscious told me "Emily, you're not supposed to be here listening!" Oh ... Yes ... I'm spying on my parents ...

"This idea doesn't please me but it'll be the best for her ..." said my mother clear sadness in her voice. "I hope ..." she almost whispered this last word.

What are they talking about? Honestly, I'm not sure if I want to know, but I'm way too curious ...

"Maybe she'll even enjoy being there! I've seen some schools that seem great! The rooms are very wide, the facilities are fantastic! Maria don't worry! She'll make new friends and besides that, the education is great and we'll be able to go visit her every weekend! It'll be a great experience for her!" my dad said sounding really excited about this "idea" of them.

I'm confused... What are they going to do to me? They've spoken about schools, facilities, education, visits... OH MY HOLY GOD! They are sending me to a boarding school!

After this conversation (which I would have rather not heard), my mother opened the door and I just had time to jump to my room's door and due to my lack of balance, I landed on my face "Ouch, my nose..." I thought while I rubbed it to decrease the pain.

My mother walked past me and saw me lying on the ground. She touched me lightly on the shoulder for me to look at her.

"Emily, my dear, are you feeling alright?" She said when she was about to start laughing. I bet she's thinking that has a completely crazy daughter, but lets just ignore that tiny detail.
