the next day picked up from the last. sa-do bid his farewell as he started toward his own classes, by himself. sometimes i miss the times he would walk me to my own classes. but, he's different nowadays. he's been different for a while, actually.
but the only thing that wasn't different were those boys. they were walking in the same direction, in the same area of the courtyard. i made sure to walk on the other side of them to try and avoid another confrontation.
i felt a vibration in my bag, unzipping the bag pocket and reaching for my cellphone. i pulled it out, checking the notification. i tried to read it as i walked, but that was a disaster waiting to happen. and it happened.
my phone flew out of my hand, landing and cracking on the cement cobble in front of me. i sigh in frustration.
"this is what happens when you think you can multitask, so-young," i quickly kneel down, picking up the pieces from my now broken phone. my hand reached from the main body as a giant foot crushed it further into the stone. i pulled my hand back.
"excuse me, sir," i look up, meeting the eyes from the boy from before.
"i told you yesterday, you know," he placed his face inches away from mine. "watch where you're going."
i don't remember him telling me that.
i decide to apologize anyway, "i'm sorry i bumped into you again mister—!"
"gu jun-pyo, to you."
"mister gu jun-pyo." a boy from behind him chuckles. he had beautiful black hair, almost like my brothers. i smile sheepishly.
jun-pyo lifted his foot from my cellphone, distracted by his friend's laughter. he lightly scolded the boy as i quickly snatch the piece and stuff it into my bag.
"i'll watch where i'm going from now on, i'm sorry again," i reassure myself with my words more than them. like hell i want to see them again; it's almost as if they're all bad luck! who knows when i can get a new phone again. this was the only way i could contact anyone.
i stand up, looking at the boys one more time before i turn around. i catch the eye of the black-haired one, him sparing me a small smirk. i start toward the entry doors as the boys' laughter echoes throughout the air. i'm glad they're enjoying themselves; maybe they'd think twice about messing with someone else once they're finished humoring themselves. i let out a heavy sigh as i get to the doors.
i swing them open.
school was over once again, and this time i was the one waiting for sa-do.
"where is he?" i mumble to myself. i reach for my phone but all i find are broken pieces of metal on the bottom of my bag. i hold my face in my hands, "right."
i stare up as the gray sky becomes darker and gloomier. it's gonna rain for sure.
i sit for another ten minutes. most of the students have filed out of the building and started their way back home. i look around antically, trying to warm my body and rubbing my hands together for some extra heat.
it's not until a few minutes until i see one of my brother's teachers walk out with another. it must be so late that even the teachers are heading back home. i quickly stand up, running over to the woman.
"ms. cha!" i shout. she waves off the other teacher before turning toward me. she smiles.
"you're sa-do's little sister, right?" she searches for a prompt in order to get my name.
"so-young!" i say happily, "yes! so-young," she smiled, making a mental note of it.
"but ms. cha, i just wanted to know if you've seen my brother? he was supposed to be here a little while ago but he hasn't come out yet."
