Chase's paws where burning as he stood there utterly defeated. He kept looking around the clearing just hoping that she would show up. Realizing she wasn't, he collapsed from the exhaustion and pain of it all. His mind would not stop spinning as he tried to wrap his thoughts around the fact that his beloved Skye was gone.

A sharp pain throbbed from his feet. It was then that he finally looked down to see his paws ripped open and bleeding. The raw skin was scraped and bruised. Thats when the tears started.

He was stranded there, useless. For all he knew Skye could be dying right now, and he had never told her how he felt about her. That's when he broke down completely, sobbing his heart out.

It was then that he decided that no matter the cost he was going to find her and save her. Chase struggled to get up as his paws screamed in agony. He tried to jump down from the rocks and ended up slipping into the water below. The water felt like acid on his wounded pads and the pain was just to great. Chase gave up on fighting.

His movements became slower and slower until they eventually came to a stop. That was when he started to sink. His muscles where so stiff and sore from running full out during a hot day, then swimming, then standing still, that he could no longer use them.

Chase's body had already reached maximum potential hours ago, meaning he had nearly worked himself to death, but had stopped when he couldn't find Skye.

Now all he could do was whimper as his head slowly slid beneath the surface of the water. "I'm so so sorry Skye" he whispered, and that's when he blacked out.
