It had been 4 hours since she lost the custody battle. Max and Josh wrapped their small arms around her waist and held her, Celeste watched, smiling timidly. Then they let go and happily skipped back to Celeste. That's her last memory of her grandson's for a while. So Mary-Louise kept replaying the moment in her head, the sound around her was different though. The sound now was rain down her windows, the wind-screen wipers squeaking across the glass, the occasional tire skid on the wet highway. Her eyes gazed from the highway to seats behind her. Empty. Then to the seat beside her. Empty. Alone. Mary had held all her emotions in for almost the whole 6 months she had been staying in Monterey for, only letting out that one scream, and embarrassing slight-breakdown she had in court. But, she hadn't cried. Tears started to fall, her eye sight full of water and blur, she shook her head and let out a slight sniffle and gasp as the tears became waterfalls. She looked for somewhere to pull over quickly, but her whole body started to tense and her hands shake on the wheel. Her breathing quickened. Finally, a few lights on the side signalled a place to pull over. Mary quickly did so, and turned the engine off. A gasp escaped her as she leaned her head back on the seat and sobbed. She couldn't breathe, it was a panic attack like what she had when she was younger, but it had been a while since her last one. Her throat seemed to close up, she grabbed it and felt sweat between her legs and arms, and took her coat off and whimpered in her panic. She grabbed the pills in her bag she had incase the panics came back. Grabbing a water she spotted her hands shaking like crazy and quickly took a pill. Holding her heart, Mary waited for the pill to kill off her anxiety for a short while, and so it did. Her breathing slowed again, she opened the door and let the cold breeze of the rain slowly blow through her hair, and she just felt numb. The pill was meant to do it but partly it was just her now. Numb. Emotionless. Alone. She carefully neatened her hair and grabbed the steering wheel again and drove off.

An hour or so later she arrived back at her old home, it was just as she left it, tidy and neat. Mary lived in a small home, on a small street, in a small neighbourhood. She moved out from Perry and Raymond grew up in, it was too painful to see the two bedrooms, and empty beds. This new home was a new beginning for her, though it had her old stories in it. Lots of photos of Perry and Raymond, her wedding day, her adventures she took with Perry alone. Her eyes gazed to a photo of Perry cuddling her, he had a big smile on his face, he was holding her chin and holding her hand, Mary was smiling and kissing his head. She smiled and gently rubbed his face on the photo.
"My Perry...." She said softly, and then strolled to her bedroom. He wouldn't have abused Celeste, raped, no no it was all ridiculous. That video in court was obviously just their foreplay. Mary's head told her. My perfect boy wouldn't do that. She nodded agreeing with her conscience. Her head then reminded her of what happened as she was packing up her apartment.

Mary grabbed the last bag and walked down the steps to her car. As she opened the door she saw Madeline standing there watching. She never liked Madeline. She was untrustworthy. Madeline gave her a slight look and walked over.
"Just before you go, I'm sorry for the fact we didn't get along. But you need help Mary-Louise. You need therapy. You are Insane!"
Mary startled and giggled quietly.
"INSANE!" Madeline shouted as she walked away, back to her teenage daughter in the car. The same daughter who watched Madeline throw ice-cream at her. Mary smirked. I don't need therapy. She needs therapy. Therapy doesn't work. Perry didn't need it I did it myself and he turned out just fine.

Mary smiled. How similar was Madeline to that old friend of hers. Mhm. Funny.
She slowly fell asleep, her emotions was still dead from the anxiety pills. That's what kept her emotionless in Monterey. That's why she took them daily. So that Celeste couldn't figure out who Mary really was. Mary was fragile, but wouldn't ever tell another soul, after the soul that knew did what they did.
