Onyx
I keep my little queen curled up on my front paws, hidden under my head so the cold doesn't reach her. I'm just content with having her with me. We've been staying like this for a few hours now and I couldn't be happier. I love having my mate with me.
Though I'm not sure I appreciate being called 'pretty'.
"Wolfie?" Ivy tugs at my fur and I raise my head, nuzzling my nose into Ivy's neck lovingly.
"I wanted to ask you... though I don't know how you can answer me... - she mumbles - Um... Could Lia maybe stay here for longer? She said that she and Blake are going to leave soon, since I'm all better now, but I'd like to convince her to stay for a while. She knows my past and I thought she may be able to tell me more about myself and help me get used to all this..." My little queen rambles cutely, as if afraid of my reaction.
As if she needs to be nervous. The thing is, I want Lia to stay here too. I have this urge to keep her safe and I have a bad feeling that something will happen to her if she leaves. Besides, my mate feels much more at ease with her friends here, so how could I possibly take it away from her?
I lick my queen's face reassuringly, nodding my head to let her know I agree with her suggestion.
"You're okay with it? Really?" She grins happily when I nod at her again. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Ivy wraps her arms around my neck, at least as much as she can, and gives me the sweetest hug I've ever received.
How I wish I could use the mind link with my queen already... I want to be able to talk to her while I'm in my true form, I want to be able to take her on rides and communicate with her.
But that will only happen after the mating. And I'm not sure she even wants it to happen.
"Lorenzo?" I raise my head at the sound of Lia's voice from the front door. "Sorry, Wolf, can you take care of this goddamn phone? It's been blowing up for the last two hours." The little human groans, holding up Lorenzo's cell phone that's still ringing.
I nudge my queen with my nose to let her know I'm about to get up and once she's safely standing beside me I go to the spot I left my clothes at and shift. I don't bother making myself look good, just quickly throw my clothes on then walk up to Ivy and pick her up, setting her on my hip before taking the phone from Lia's hand.
"Alpha King! I finally reached you! – some alpha greets the moment I pick up the call – I have to report something. There's a feral wolf on a killing spree right outside my pack borders." I feel my body tense at this. Feral wolf?!
"Where?" I go to the office and pull out a map, spreading it on the table while Ivy holds up the phone, putting it on speaker.
"Manitoba in Canada. Alpha King, the wolf is on a damn rampage and nothing can stop him. I fear he will attack my pack." Manitoba, Canada. That's not far from where we are.
"Don't engage with the wolf. Stay put and don't let anyone get in his way." I order then hang up, only for the phone to start ringing again. This time it's another alpha.
I tell all alphas that call me the same thing – don't get in the wolf's way. I trace his route on the map, only to come to the conclusion that he's heading here, to Ontario.
Just when I'm about to get ready to leave and deal with the feral wolf, I get a call from one of the alphas again.
"What is it now?!" I growl in frustration.
"Alpha King, I have an update for you. Some woman just passed by my pack, but she wasn't human! My patrol said she's a young one with silver hair! Alpha King, she's following the same trail as the feral wolf!" The alpha panics, but I sigh in relief. Silver-haired woman. Beast.
