~^Aztec POV^~
"Listen to me... you can't tell anyone." I told my Beta, Cameron. He nodded in understanding, but I wasn't sure if he really understood.
I had just told him about my assumption about the girl being my mate, the regret slowly set in as Cameron tried to hold back a smile. I knew he was happy about me finally finding a mate, but why did it have to be her?! I hadn't ever really wanted a mate, seeing as I was rich, handsome, and could get pretty much any girl I wanted.
"So her Father is the man that killed your family?" Cameron asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.
I ran my fingers through my hair roughly before nodding. Cameron sighed. I was sure that he would be as disturbed about this as much as I was, but, judging by the small smile on his face, he wasn't.
"Why are you smiling?! This isn't a good thing!" I raised my voice un-knowingly.
Cameron leaned forward and rested his chin on his knuckles, looking me right in the eyes. "There's no way that finding your mate could ever be a bad thing. You're destined to be with her, so just embrace it!" Cameron smiled as he finished talking... I didn't.
"I can't," I said through gritted teeth, a growl threatening to erupt.
"Sure you can!" Cameron kicked back on his chair, leaning back and putting his feet on my desk. "It's not that hard."
"Of course it wasn't hard for you!" I snapped. "It was love at first sight for you and Sarah, so you have no idea what I'm going through!" I entangled my fingers in my hair as I rested my head in my hands.
Silence followed after that as Cameron and I disappeared into our own thoughts.
"I should tell Sarah." Cameron finally broke the silence, causing my head to snap up and my eyes land on his.
"Don't you dare." I growled which made Cameron shudder. He stood with a heavy sigh.
"She could help!" He pleaded which got a loud growl in response from me. "So you're just going to reject the girl?" Cameron asked slowly.
"I don't know. But I'm sure as hell not going to accept her."
Cameron rolled his eyes at my statement before leaving, closing the door loudly behind him.
I stayed in my office for over an hour, drowning myself in paperwork, to take my mind off of the girl. But no matter how hard I tried, my thoughts always returned to her. How could I be so obsessed with someone I just met?!
"Stupid mate bond." I muttered as I closed my computer and stood. I couldn't get any work done with her on my mind.
"I don't even know her name!" I talked to myself as I hastily cleaned up the papers that lay all over my desk, stuffing most of them into the trashcan. "How can I already be so in lo-..." I stopped myself, I'm not in love with her! I'm just in, "...Lust with her?" I corrected.
Sighing roughly, I finished "cleaning" my glass desk and walked out of my office.
But as soon as I opened the door, I regretted it.
