"I want you to know that I am here to help you. I am a pro hero and will protect you."

"R-really? Always?"

I hesitated before saying, "Yes. Always."

Still Mic's POV:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The girl's eyes widened then she burst into tears. She flung her arms around my neck and hung on for dear life. Her Not-Father just lost it.

"Fuck you both! I'll kill you!"

He raised his hands and I clapped my hands over Emma's ears. The earth rose and formed into spikes that rushed towards us. In an instant, I lifted my head and screamed as loud as I could, whipping my head around, shattering the stone that surrounded us. The man screamed in frustration and began an onslaught of attacks.

I started to get worried.

Stone shards and boulders littered the street and my voice was starting to become hoarse. I can't just scream forever! I knew that I had around a minute and a half to get Emma to safety and I didn't know if she had pressed the button and if help was coming. I mean, it wasn't like I could just stop and ask her!

Emma suddenly screamed in my ear at the top of her lungs, "I did it! Help's coming!"

I could barely hear her but those words comforted me more than anything else could have.

"Shit!" The man cursed as he bent the ground around us, trapping us in a ball of cement. The cement was in my mouth and slipping down my throat. I couldn't breathe!

I started to panic. Very Un-Hero-like, I know.

My mind whirled as I tried to think of a solution. I knew that I could do nothing. I was lightheaded, dizzy and running out of air. My throat was full of hardened cement that prevented quirk use. I could last a minute at least. The help that Emma had promised was coming was our only hope. The help was probably 30 seconds to 10 minutes way! Emma looked to be only four years old! If she had a quirk, it was likely that she could not control it and that it couldn't help in this situation.

I could do nothing but pray.

Things started to fuzz out. I could hear static and strange whirring and cracking noises.

Everything faded...

Emma's POV:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even though Mic had covered my ears, I could still hear the scream. I felt as if my ears were going to explode and I suddenly felt bad for Jack. I realized that Jack wasn't going to stop, not until he reached his limit. I knew that he hadn't used his quirk yet today so he was very powerful and strong at the moment. But I also knew that Mic HAD and that made him much weaker than Jack. I just held on and begged the universe to let us live and be safe afterwards.
