Chapter 50: August's POV

"You did good tonight, babe." I sat on top of Alexandre, rubbing his back. He surprised me by taking me to the cabin, where we had first made love to have privacy since we hadn't had time to discuss finding our own place. So we had been staying with his parents until we were able to find our own home.

"I told you I had it," he moaned out as I dug my fingertips into the skin below his shoulder blades.

"I know, it's my job to worry about you though, you're my love." I leaned down, kissing my mark in the crook of his neck.

"As you are mine." He grunted when I rubbed on the knot, I found in the center of his back. "I saw you mingled with another Luna, conveniently her Alpha wants to have a meeting tomorrow morning to sign a treaty. I'm proud of you." He flipped around, so I was now sitting on his lap, his hands gripping onto my hips. I placed my hands on his chest, lightly rubbing them up and down.

"Mhm, she was refreshing to talk to, she was insulting her mate for even trying to fight you." I chuckled at the memory of Jupiter going ham on her own mate. It was almost comical how little faith she had in him.

"Can't blame him, or the other Alpha's that had been there tonight. I'm sure I won't have to worry for a while about someone challenging me after tonight." He chuckled, leaning up, placing his lips on mine.

"Good, but don't speak too fast, we still have the Summit next week," I mumbled against his lips.

"I'll take 'em down too." He grunted. "I'll protect you and this pack until my last breath, and I don't intend on that anytime soon." He growled in my ear, making shivers run down my spine.

"You better stay alive." I pulled back, leaning my forehead against his, staring into his blue orbs.

"Anything you say, love." He peppered kisses on my cheeks, nose, and forehead. "Now, I'm beat, thank you, baby, for the massage, I'll have to reward you another day. We have some pack business first thing in the morning, so you need to rest as well."

"I know, I know," I whined, climbing off my mate and flopping on the bed next to him. "You're lucky I like you because, after tonight, I would sleep until noon normally, but I guess since I'm the Luna of the pack, I'll get up." I teased him.

He pulled me to his chest, "Pff as if you'd have a choice. Raven told me a little secret on how to get you up in the morning."

"Oh really, what did that black-haired mutt tell you?" I quirked my eyebrow at my mate.

"First off, I take full offense because I, too, am a black haired mutt. Second off, 'A glass of water'll do.'" He smirked at me.

"I swear on my life if you ever wake me up that way, you will be sleeping on the couch for a month." I poked his chest with each word. "He barely made it out alive when he did that."

"Duly noted, but seriously we need to go to sleep." He pecked my forehead pulling me closer to him. His warmth radiated off of him like a space heater, quickly lulling me to sleep.

"So, August, we meet again!" Jupiter and her mate Samuel sat in the waiting area of Alexandre's office. A few others were sitting there as well, I noticed a few Alpha's, mostly younger ones that Alexandre had fought the previous night.

"Good morning, Jupiter, I assume you're here to talk about what we discussed last night?" I questioned. Alexandre squeezed my hand. I could almost feel his pride radiating off of him.

"So formal, but yeah, we're here to do just that, right Samuel." She said in a condescending tone to her mate. Samuel rolled his eyes, letting out a sigh.
