Another year. My third year of high school, how pleasant. I must say I did miss school, even though there isn't anybody in particular that has been longing to see me after two months. It's not that im complaining because I do have my one best friend, Nayla. Plus I've talked to two or three people like twice. Our conversations usually consisted of me helping them figure out how to solve whatever homework we had that day or to let them see my notes for the concepts being covered in class.
But enough with that. As I was making my way to the front doors of the main building of my school, safely making it out of the bus, I texted Nayla to see where we should meet up.
"Hey where are you?"
A minute later she responded.
"Infront of the cafeteria. It was about time you txted me :b"
"Ok see you there & sry:)"
I started walking towards my destination but was soon stopped due to the hard slap that my backside received. I turned around ready to punch whoever dared to do such a thing ,not literally, but it was no suprise to see that it was none other than my best friend.
"What the heck is wrong with you!" I whisper-yelled at her. Even though i felt like laughing at her terrified face expression, I managed to keep my stern voice.
"Omg I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hit you that hard I swear!" Nayla said while placing her hand on her chest and her eyes popping out.
"You're lucky your my best friend or else I would've punched you." I responded while I started walking towards my locker.
"Oooh! I'm so scared Eva the goody-two-shoes is going to punch me. Please you punch like a 1 year old. Plus you wouldn't dare to hit someone and you know it's true." You see this is the thing about my friend, she doesn't know when to stop even though she was the one that started the whole situation.
"Whatever. Just walk woman." I grabbed her arm and pulled her so she was walking at my pace. It's not that she couldn't keep up, in fact if she wanted she could leave me behind using her long legs. I, on the other hand am 5 ft. tall and have short legs so the struggle is real with these short people problems.
We made it to my locker and I quickly put the things I didn't need in it so I wouldn't have to carry everything at once. Once I got my stuff we were headed off to our first class which is Algebra 2 for me but History for Nayla.
"Ok well I'll see you during second period Eva"
"Ok see you then" I wave bye to her as she started walking the opposite direction.
I walked into my class and saw that there were barely any students. Then again it was still kind of early. I saw the teacher sitting at her desk. I gave her a small smile and took my seat at the back far end of the class. I didn't really like to sit in the center because it made me think that I would be the center of attention. I didn't like sitting in the front because then you don't get to see what's going on behind your back. So I stuck with my rule of sitting in the back or at least close to the back of the room.
But anyways I took my seat and decided to read the book I brought along with me, If I Stay. Once I got through chapter one the bell finally rang. Students started to walk in and took there seat on the empty desks. The teacher stood up from her chair and walked to the front of the room once everybody was settle in.
"Hello everyone. I'm Mrs. Marshals. Welcome to trigonometry class." she said in an overly excited voice. "Well I know we will behave this year and have a lot of fun! Am I right?". Everyone stayed quiet I could almost hear crickets. Awkward. I don't think she realized that we were now Juniors not 5 year Old. "I think I am." she said when she finally realized that no one was going to answer. She smiled at the class and clapped her hand together. "Ok well why don't we start off by introducing yourselves to the class?" oh no.
21 student introductions later. "Hi everyone nice to meet you all. My name is Sophia but you can call me Sophie". The girl with brown hair said to the whole class with a smile on her face. Well she seems nice. "Thank you Sophie. You may take a seat". Mrs. Marshals said. The girl sat down and then I notice the teacher looking at me. "It's your turn sweetie". I panicked because I usually don't like speaking infront of people even if it was something as simple as saying my name. But of course my teacher didn't understand. "Come on. Just say your name". She said with a sympathetic smile on her face as if she knew how nervousness was eating me inside. Hesitant, I got up but kept my sight on my hands and spoke in a small voice. "Hello...uh...my name is Eva". But of course that wasn't good enough for Mrs. Marshals. "Sorry dear I think you will need to speak up a bit". Sighing, I managed to look up and speak louder. "Hi my name is Eva". "Thank you, you may sit down. I quickly sat down relieved. I know it may not seem like a big deal to others but to me it is. After that torture Mrs. Marshals just basically went over the rules, grading process, syllabus and everything else you do when it's the first day of school. Soon it was time to go to 2nd period but to tell you the truth I would've just stayed in my class until the halls were empty because it looked like the Mall on a black friday. Students were somehow trying to get past one another and some even elbowed me. I didn't understand though I thought these people didn't like school.
Making my way to 2nd period, finally, I walked in through the door and saw that Nayla was already seated at a table but she wasn't alone, she was with two boys. Since the tables were set up in groups of four, one of the boys were sitting besides her on the right and the other one infront of her. I thought about whether or not I should sit with them or just tell Nayla to come sit with me at another table. I decided to go with neither and just sat down at the empty table at the back of the room. I heard that somebody was saying my name so I turned around to see Nayla waving at me as she started to make her way over to the table I was sitting at.
"Go sit over there I saved you a seat". She said once she was infront of me. I shook my head. " no I think I'll stay here". I don't think she heard me because I wass now being pulled or should I say practically dragged over to the table my friend was sitting at.
She sat me down at the empty seat which was the one beside the unknown boy. "This is my friend Eva. She's a bit shy". No really. The boy besides Nayla waved at me and said "Nice to meet you, I'm Michael but you can call me Mikey". I smiled and waved back at him. The boy or should I say Mikey has brown hair and brown eyes.
The boy to my right turn his head so he was somewhat facing me and said, "I'm Isaiah." while giving me a side smile. Faints. He has a black curly type of hair and greenish brown eyes. Both guys are very attractive if you asked me. "Hi". I said while smiling at the cute boy. We ,and by this I mean the boys and Nayla talk until the bell rang and another teacher introduction but thankfully this one had us do a different activity so that we could know each others name instead of saying it in front of the whole class.
"Ok class you will need a piece of paper and then fold it in half the hot dog way. After that you need to write your name on one side of the paper and decorate it. The markers are on the table along with the white paper. So get to work". Said Mrs. Phippard our science teacher. "Yay coloring!". Said Nayla.
"Seems like you're into it. I mean it is better than actual class work". Mikey said while chuckling at my friends reaction. Isaiah on the other hand disagreed with them "oh how nice coloring." he said sarcastically. "We're not in kindergarten again". He laughed and turn to look my way. I just smiled and sort of giggled as well " I guess you have a good point but supposedly coloring is a good way to get rid of some anger or stress". I said. But of course he just gave me a you're kidding right look. We all just started laughing. After that we just remain quiet while we decorated our name tags.
There was a little conversation that consisted of making fun of each others decorations. Soon class was over and we went to our classes but nothing exciting happen in my other classes except the fact that I had a couple of classes with Mikey and two others with Isaiah. I must say I was actually enjoying their company. Even though we only met. I never would've though that I would feel comfortable talking to someone other than Nayla. Overall it was a good first day at school.
Note: I'm sorry if there is any mistakes I tried to fix all of them but I might have missed some. I also tried to make this chapter longer and I know it may not be as interesting but it will hopefully get better soon so keep it in your library and keep reading please and thank you. Also the picture on the side or above the title is of the boys.
