"you've got nothing more than several bruises on your inner thighs, a large one on your upper back by your left shoulder blade-and a deep wound on your lower stomach. nothing more." the doctor explained as he finished patching up my bandaid for my wound.

i look to rakim, i can tell from his face that he wasn't himself. his hair was pulled into a messy bun, you can tell the elastic around his hair wasn't supporting his voluminous wavy hair. his eyes were red while bags were visibly showing that he has gotten no sleep for the matter of days. when i got home the next day of the incident, he came to me bawling his eyes out. it wasn't surprising to me, he never hides his emotions to me and i wanted to cry too, but i cried so much that a single tear couldn't shed and travel down my cheek. instead i whispered to him that i was fine and it'll be okay; and when i explained him what had happened to me, he almost vomited and he felt sorry for me.

and during the nights, i was afraid. the dark of my room was haunting me, as if i was a little child again and being typically terrified of the dark. but it wasn't no joke. i felt those rough, dry hands on me every time i closed my eyes, and i could do nothing but panic and whimper in my bed. i proceeded by walking to rakim's place crying slowly and next thing i knew, i was in the same position i was four days ago, laying in his bed as ran my fingers through his hair. except, he was holding me by the waist and his grip was really tight, but so reassuring. i felt safe in his hold and i quickly drifted to sleep.

"ms. banks?" the doctor repeated. "mhm?" i answered. rayan took my vest from the arm chair as i hopped off the bed slowly without hurting myself. "we ran tests on you to check up if everything's alright and you'll be having the results to you as soon as possible. see you soon, and be prudent. take advil pills if needed. and stay away from things that might harm you or infect your wound."

i nodded and the doctor left the room.

we began walking down the sidewalk, rakim wasn't the type to drive a car. he loves to walk, take the bus or bike to get to his destination, i didn't mind if we walked, as long if i was with him i was okay. he put his arm around me as the sun settled down, it was quite chilly today and i was cold.

"you wanna to go tim hortons and get a hot chocolate on our way back?" he asked, pointing at the tim hortons sign. i nodded and we entered. it was quite empty, considering the fact that the hospital was in the other side of the city and not as many people come to this tim hortons. we stood in line as I laid my head on his arm and shortly, it was our turn to order.

"good afternoon and welcome to tim hortons, what would you like to order?" said the employer.

"uhm, i would like...-" rakim nudged me as i lifted my head up and looked at him in the eyes, "emani, whatcha want? small, medium or large?" i said to him i wanted a medium and he got a large. i resumed putting my head back on his arm and observed the room around me.

a numerous of people were siting down enjoying what they ordered, it was pretty quiet not including the noises of the many employers shouting and coffee machines brewing in the back. my eyes suddenly stopped to a person sitting on their table, reading the newspaper. and it wasn't any other person.

i watched the familiar person, his dark eyes were scanning through each word in the paper and he looked very focus, pretty sure if you asked for his attention he'd probably take some time to answer you. a iced cappuccino was sitting on the ceramic table inches away from him along with a box of 10 pieces of timbits that was firmly closed as if it has been never touched.

then he looked up. his familiar almond shaped eyes, his loose bouncy curls was slightly covering them as his fairly pointy nose with the visible beauty mark on his left nostril as his silver septum piercing were glistening through the lights above us.

and his reminiscing eyes stared at mine as i stared at his and suddenly, his face lit up. just when he was about to set down his newspaper, he stopped and i saw his eyes shift to his right and his face expression gradually faded and i looked to the same direction as he was looking and my eyes fell upon rakim mouthing something that i couldn't read in my mind while he frantically waved my medium sized hot chocolate in the mid air.

then i came back to reality.

"emani? ema-" he kissed his lips with exaggeration and forcefully gave me my hot chocolate in my hands. "goddamn it you never pay attention!"

i blinked a couple times, trying to process what just happened as i felt him dragging me out of the resturant. i glanced at him, my heart skipped when our eyes met again one last time, then next thing i knew my eyes reached the corner of my eye sockets and the cold dug through my bones and i realized i was outside again.

but i swear...

it was him.

•• yennick's point of view ••

"hmmm..." i said to myself as i folded my newspaper and set it down on the table. i quickly reached for my drink and slurped the rest of it. my mind immediately played what happened a few minutes ago. then i thought, was it really her? how could she look so flawless after what had encountered a few days ago? i haven't noticed her piercing maroon eyes that looked through mine until i looked up and it was like as if i couldn't look away. we both froze at the same time, and her eyes was showing me a hint of lust and affection. i felt my face lit up, i knew it was her. it had to be her, but then my eyes tore off from our intense stare and i looked to my right, spotting a deep toned appealing young man with two cups in his hands staring her. that's when my eyes died down and my heart started to beat slowly and the blood in my veins pumped lowly again. as i looked at him, so many things ran through my mind; was it her boyfriend? her fiancé? or just his friend? no they're too close to each other... fwb? nah ion see her like that, im probably out of her league, she probably attracted to him. it's whatever i'm just a stranger that to her anyway.

so much thoughts ran through my mind by looking at him in a split second. then i angrily put the newspaper close to my face and resumed reading a new article as if whatever happened never occurred.

then i heard the door open and i decided to look her once more with my stubborn ass. then, our eyes met again and she was gone. again.

but i swear...

it was her.
