The morning came too soon and I was still feeling the jetlag from last week, but I still had to get ready for school. I dragged myself out of bed and put on a Nike sweater and some jeans. Despite the fact spring was just around the corner, the wetter here still acted like it was winter. I quickly grabbed my bag and hurried downstairs.
Luckily by the time I got ready, Oliver had already made us breakfast, 'cause if he'd relayed on me to do it, we would be late. He wasn't exactly a great cook but his food was bearable and better than dads anyway. I checked my phone while eating my cereal and there was a message from mum:
MUM :)
'Hi, sweetie, I hope your first day goes well and make sure Ollie stays out of trouble, ly <3
I smiled at her text and replied with a 'thanks' and 'will do'.
I proceeded to scroll through my phone, looking at posts from my friends back in England. A sad and nostalgic feeling came over me and I couldn't help but think of my old life there.
At this time of the day, my best friend Jack would have come and picked me up for school. He was my ride since I still didn't have my license yet and he was also a year older. He was one of my few friends back home, besides Mia and Zoe, the twins that were living next door. I may not have been very popular at my old school but I didn't mind since I was used to Olliver getting all the attention. After school, I would have gone to my mums and probably spent the afternoon with her, before returning to my dad's flat. I might have taken the art class or two in the afternoon or meet with my friend at our local Holmes bar.I was so caught up in my thoughts, I didn't even notice, that I have finished my cereal, and was now scoping up only the leftovers of milk at the bottom of the bowl.
I stood up, putting the bowl in the dishwasher when I heard a honk.
I'm late!
I grabbed my bag at the door and locked the house. I ran across the driveway and threw my bag in the back seat as I took the shotgun. I looked over at Oliver who was typing on his phone, he actually dressed nicely for a change. He was wearing ripped jeans and a Calvin Klein hoodie. His hair was styled-ish and it looked like he shaved. He raised his eyebrow at me and I smiled at him:
"You look nice"
"I always look nice Gally," he said with a smirk on his face.
"You on the other hand... Well there's always tomorrow"
I rolled my eyes and flicked him on the head as he pulled in to the street. There was a short drive to school and honestly, we could've walked but since I was already late, I was glad we didn't. There was a big parking lot in front and he parked near the entrance.
"Here you go Gally," he said when the car stopped. I shot him a confused look and unbuckled my seatbelt.
"I have a free period so I'm gonna check out the town, I'll see you at lunch," he said with annoyance.
I was still looking at him in suspicion, but he just nodded for me to get out.
"Ok, but you better be there, or I will personally beat your as*".
"I wish you a good day too," he said with a sarcastic smile. I rolled my eyes at him as I took out my bag and headed towards the school.
There were quite a few people still hanging outside despite the cold weather. I quickly walked inside and the school was huge. It had a big lobby and a giant staircase leading up to the first floor. The place was bright and crowded. I managed to find my locker and after a couple of tries and a few kicks to the lock, I finally opened it. I quickly put away my stuff and mentally prepared for my first day.
