Chapter 14- Alpha
Nevaeh's POV
"Are you coming back?" Logan inquired from beside me. I hummed in response.
"Will you leave me?" I raised a brow and glanced at him in the passenger seat. His head bowed with his fists clenched at his side as his body trembled.
"There is a possibility of death." I stated plainly, pulling over at the diner and entered the building. It didn't seem like he planned to leave the car.
"Good morning Madeline, can you watch Logan?"
"Of course, Hun!!!" She grinned from ear to ear at the mention of his name. I nodded and returned to the car.
Although it's only been a week since they met Logan, they love the adorable little boy. Fortunately, this family doesn't question me unless it's necessary except for Lora, she's noisy. Though he was a little distant with them compared to their personalities.
I opened the door and lift him in my arms, one look at his face made me know he wouldn't step out on his own and I don't like talking so I will save my breathe. He struggled in protest but I'm much stronger and just bring him to the table in the corner that he occupies when he comes here.
I only made it a few steps before a pair of arms clamped around my waist. It was expected so I just continued walking while calling for Madeline and her husband's help. I stood at the door, they took a hold of him and I effortlessly released his grip and stepped out of range.
"No, mommy!" Huh?! I blinked at his sorrowful eyes and raised a brow. He had only known me for a week and suddenly I'm mommy, what happened to trust was hard to gain?
"We both know I'm not your mother." I replied, walking out the door. His sudden wail made me pause in my steps.
"I'll come back." I promised, he calmed a little. I guess the possibility of dying was thrown out of the window now.
I grasped my mom's locket in my hand tightly as I drove along the road speedily with the other. I quickly sprayed myself and the car to mask my scent. In no time I reached my destination. I could easily spot wolves in the forest racing against the car. That's good, it means their Alpha would be alerted already, I have something to discuss with him.
The car skid to an halt at the pack house and I gentle stepped out in the beaming sun. Present members cast me odd looks from their place probably because of my mask or lack of scent. Warriors that had been trailing me entered my line of sight as they circled me.
I fold my arm and leaned against the car, discreetly checking my surroundings. A growl sound before the wolf in front of me lunged towards me, all teeth bare. I blinked and kicked it in his snout, sending him into his pack mates.
"What do you want?" The Alpha stepped out of the house, levelling a solid glare on my petite form.
"To challenge you." He assessed my small built and laughed mockingly.
"Little girl, don't throw away your life like that."
"Oh you don't recognize me, that's good. I'm solely here to here to take your pack and kill you." It seems he didn't recognize my voice, I might have overestimate his observation skills.
"Just walk away little guy, you're probably no old than fifteen."
"I'm eighteen."
"Yet so small, are you actually a wolf?" Wolves aren't usually short because of their genes but whatever new things pop up sometimes.
