that chapter title? Its suppuse to say grammar. Why is gramm'r so important. i dont know. i dont understand why peple care about what it looks like. you can read it right? why you complaining then? wierd peepls.
OMG! That hurt my soul to write. Plus it took more effort than writing normally(and correctly...). Why should you write in such an illiterate style(besides the fact it hurts to look at...)? Because it distracts from the story and is harder to read. Every time I see such bad gramm'r, it breaks the attention I placed in your story. Soon it becomes me looking at your horrible gramm'atical errors rather than your story. That's not good. Plus, lots of readers turn away if they see the gramm'r is bad. I am included in that group. I can't stand to read a story that my mind is desperately trying to fix every moment.
So how can we fix this world wide issue?
Autocorrect is a beautiful thing, as is spellcheck. Defiantly my favorite two tools. Sometimes I get chocked up with the thought of not having them.
Which leads us to our next complaint: freaking misspelled words. Defiantly: bold disobedience . Definitely: Without doubt. Those words are completely different! There spelling isn't even that close. So please! All authors out there, stop replacing definitely with defiantly! It's not just annoying(and it's really annoying!), but it distracts from the story. It breaks whatever thought or scene you were making when my mind sees a misplaced word. Whenever I read a sentence slaughtered like that, I pause, become confused and go back to read it another three times to make proper sense of what you were trying to mean. When you're neck deep in a story, that mistake is like cold water being thrown in your face. It's horrible.
Next, we have chocking. That isn't even a word! Let's go for it's "noun" version. Chock. Chock(sometimes spelled as Chocke): a wedge or block to prevent a wheel from moving. Okay, cool. BUT, I often see stories using this as a replacement for the word choke. Choke: severe difficulty in breathing due to an obstruction of the throat or lack of air. Those aren't even close to the same thing! Please... Use the right words when writing. If you don't know how to spell a word, look it up or use a different one. Like strangle. Such as: "The stalker grabbed my throat and started strangling me." Or "I felt my breathing become harder and realized something was obstructing the passage to my lungs!"
It's okay to have a misspelt word here and there. Or an it's instead of an its. I understand that this doesn't have to be professional writing and editing your own work isn't much fun at all, but don't consistently make mistakes! In my opinion, there should be less than five noticeable errors in a 5,000 word chapter. Great writing has one or less errors.
Please look over your work, even briefly, before posting it. It could be the difference between defiantly and definitely getting reads and votes. Improve yourself and don't be like everyone else!END!
P.S. FrostySquid is a gramm'r nazi. If you couldn't tell. YOLO! No regrets here! Swag.
