Hello there, internet! Like a lot of you out there, quarantine has given me a lot of time to just sit and reflect. It has also given some time to try and type out some of the things that have been bubbling in my brain in order to keep myself sane. To be perfectly honest: some of it morbid, some of it is the model of privileged petulance and almost all of it is utterly depressing. That is why I want to include the following TRIGGER WARNING:
The subject matter of these poems is nothing to take lightly. There are strong themes of suicide, eating disorders and abusive relationships throughout this entire collection. Please. If you feel that you will be triggered by any of these topics, please do not read these or read these and be mindful that any of the feelings that these bring up need to be addressed- whether that be with a mental health professional or with someone you love and trust.
This collection is a compilation of portraits of women I've admired or associated with my state of mind at a certain period of time.
Please keep in mind that these poems are all first draft and are my first run at writing poetry. If anyone has any constructive criticism, I would be more than grateful to hear it.
All my love,
A.
