The Monster

When Freddy reached the bottom of the tower, he started planning his next move. Let's see, all I need to do is get to the radio tower, get into the underground bunker, get the tower back online, and call for help. If all else fails, I'm driving back home. He could see the red light on the radio tower glowing in the distance up north, which looked pretty far away from where he was standing. Alright then, here we go. He also brought along his rifle, just in case he ran into anyone or anything that could get in his way.

Should I go on the dirt path, or should I just take a shortcut through the woods? If I go through the woods, I'll get there faster, but the dirt path looks safer. Plus, I could easily get lost in the forest. Eh, I'll take the dirt path again. He walked away from the watch tower and began to make his way towards the radio tower.

As he was walking along the dirt path, with multiple dead trees around him, he could hear a loud thumping noise, coming from around the right side of the forest. Thump, thump, thump, thump, each one getting slightly louder as it continued. It sounds like an animal, but not even a bear is that loud! Freddy could feel the goosebumps down his spine go up, giving him chills as the thumping got even louder. He got his rifle ready, looking through the hunting scope, prepared to defend himself if whatever this thing was decided to attack him. Then came a loud roar, that sounded something like you would hear in a Godzilla movie, only much louder and deeper, like a dinosaur. The loud thumping got even louder, and as Freddy aimed for where all the noise was coming from, he could barely see a tall beast, running through the trees towards him.

Holy shit, what the fuck is that thing?! This beast was unlike any Freddy had seen before. One could say it came straight out of a horror film. He had seen many horror films in his life before, like A Nightmare on Elm Street and Alien, but this creature was absolutely horrifying to look at. Its body and skeleton seemed to look like that of a human, only this thing was as tall as the trees themselves, towering over Freddy at what seemed like forty feet high. Its skin looked slightly rusty but mummified, and seemed to camouflage nearly perfectly with the trees. The skin was so abnormally thin that most the creature's skeletal structure could be seen underneath it, as it looked very malnourished. Its arms were almost as long as its entire body, with its legs and feet shaped like that of a human as well. But the strangest thing of all about this creature was its head. Instead of there being a head, it looked like a large pole replaced where its neck should've been, with two siren speakers on each side of it.

Freddy honestly couldn't care less about what this thing was because he was more focused on not becoming this creature's brown bag lunch. He quickly turned to his rifle, aimed at the creature's chest, and opened fire. The shot echoed through the area. He couldn't see much of the creature's reaction, since it was still a good distance away from him, but he could hear the creature cry out in pain, howling. The creature immediately ran off back into the forest, continuing its loud thumping.

That definetly won't hold him off. If anything, that should've only pissed him off. So why did that thing run away? Whatever, all I know is that it's not down. I better keep my guard up in case he comes back. The size of that thing, though...I guess I know what made that large footprint at the campsite. And I guess this is the same son of a bitch who killed John, too. I'm not letting him die in vain. It's not like I can kill this beast, but I can try to see if any of my friends are still alive. John's dead, so that leaves me with Sarah, Caityln and Thomas. Judging from the blood that I found at the tent, this thing must've caught them by surprise. They then must have tried running away from it, confused and panicking, which explains the shoe and footprints I found at camp. But what happened to the others? Where are they? Nevermind, I need to get going. With my luck, the monster will be coming back soon.

Freddy started rushing along the dirt path, desperate to reach the tower in a short as fast as possible, while not being too winded out. Now he was deeper into the forest, with many more trees around him, and the light fog from before was covering everything. Well, that's just typical. As he was rushing through, he could hear some moaning coming from the forest. It's the monster, it has to be! The moaning sounded like something was hurt, trying to call for help. I'm not falling for that. He prepared his hunting rifle again, in case this was some sort of trap.

Then, the moaning stopped, and the loud thumping came back. It's here. The thumping was coming from behind him, much louder and faster than it was before. Yeah, I definetly pissed him off, didn't I? He could briefly see the creature's head through the fog, running straight at him, surprisingly pretty quickly, too. Freddy aimed the rifle once again and fired at the creature. It looked like he successfully hit the creature again, as it let out another howl of pain, along with a jambled siren call that kept cutting to static inbetween. Freddy decided to take his chances and run off again, as the creature ran back into the forest.

As he was running, he could still hear the creature's loud footsteps, but he couldn't see it running behind him. It was probably moving around the forest, trying to cut him off when he least expected it. He stopped inbetween to breath in some air, but could now hear the footsteps coming even closer to him. He aimed his rifle where the sound was coming from, but he could see where the monster was. Remember, he looks like a tree. Try looking for any movement. It just kept getting louder, and his anxiety was just getting worse. Then, right from behind him, the monster got closer to him than it ever did before, and Freddy got a good look at the hideous being. Completely surprised, he shot before he had time to place a good aim, and it hit the monster right in the leg. This time, the creature lost some of its balance, and gave another howl of pain as Freddy kept running away from it. The creature was still making static siren noises.

Oh my God, that thing is absolutely massive! Come on, just a little more. The radio tower is right up ahead. Just gotta make sure I don't die! He could still see the flashing red light coming from the radio tower, so he knew how far away he was from it. He kept running along the dirt path until he came close enough to the radio tower. Once he got there, he decided to skip through the trees and reach the underground bunker, since it was around only twenty feet away. Alright, I'm almost there! Just a little bit more! He rushed through the grass and the trees, and finally reached the underground bunker.

It didn't look like any regular bunker Freddy had seen before. It was underneath a large pile of boulders, with an open door-like entrance that lead to the bunker. When he was about to go inside, he saw something that nearly made him puke again. Right outside the bunker, next to the door, was a heavily mutilated corpse.

There was blood everywhere, and a lot of it was covered across the corpse's body. The corpse was also horribly disfigured, as most of its skin was either covered in blood or gnawed at, and the face of this corpse was completely removed from the body. He thought it was John at first, since the details surrounding his death and where it was found both looked similar, but as he took a good look, he could tell it had a much more feminine posture. None of the victim's hair was found, either, so there was no way for him to tell whether this victim was either Sarah or Caitlyn. Either way, it was a fate he certainely had no intention of sharing. He went through the entrance and inside of the underground bunker, hoping to find what he needed to do next.
