Dexters' POV
It had been a week and no Allyson. How could this affect me?
I put Harrison down for a nap before Jaimie arrived to take over. I'm becoming obsessive. My mind keeps traveling back and forth between Allyson and who my next kill is going to be.
"Hey Dexter, you're free."
Jaimie came through the door , taking over my fatherly duties.
"He should be fine, I just put him down for a nap. If anything happens, you know where to reach me."
Jaimie nodded
"I know Dexter, we'll be fine. Get out of here."
I kissed Harrison goodbye and retreated to my car. My cell phone began to ring, I glanced down to see who it was.
'Unknown caller'
"Hello"
I stated curiously
"So are you free for breakfast, lunch, dinner maybe?"
It was her.
"Uhm, sure. Where? "
She hesitated, chuckling slightly as she exhaled .
"Aren't you supposed to track down your victims? If you're so damn good at that, you should be good at finding me. It's an obvious find. See yah there."
She hung up and I began to drive to her apartment, she was still here. I parked and began to look for her number,61A.
I knocked.Allyson's POV
"Hey there fella, come on in."
I kept the door open as Dexter traipsed into my apartment, looking to me with a slight devious smile that he always seemed to have.
"You got here earlier than anticipated, I was sure you'd go to the diner with bland eggs."
Dexter laughed, shaking his head slightly.
"Figured since the eggs weren't up to pare, you wouldn't be there."
I nodded, and headed over to continue my cooking .
"Dex, prove you're the breakfast extraordinaire you've calmed to be."
He began to cook pancakes as I stirred the eggs, spicing them up.
I don't recall having a cooking session with anyone but Dexter since my family died, usually I persuaded men that I'd invite over to cook with me but they'd fail my test my grabbing my ass."You do this to every guy you let into your apartment."
I smirked at Dexters' question, eyeing him as he sat at the table across from me as we ate our meal.
"Only the ones I find to be interesting."
Dexter shoved a piece of bacon in his mouth.
"Interesting? You test them?"
I shrugged, and began to play with my food .
"The guys that grab you when your back is turned are the ones' you don't want, the guy that stands there and watches is as well. Although, I did sort of force you to cook with me, men have said no."
Dexter put his fork down and began to stare at me intently.
"You're a vet with no animals?"
I nodded
"I would have them, but with my extracurricular actives, And a hectic schedule it's impossible. It may look suspicious and I know that's bad but..fuck it."
He was adorable in his own way, evil with a touch of light, he was like contaminated water, or a soiled wedding dress. I didn't entirely think of him as being a dark soul ,instead I thought of the type of atmosphere he offered.
"Your apartment looks like you just moved into it."
Once again I nodded.
"Because I just did, I wanted a fresh start. It hasn't entirely worked out too well but hey, Rome wasn't built in a day."
Dexter held his glass of orange juice up as though he was making a toast, I laughed as he took a sip.
"You aced my test by the way, like it matters. I don't really know what to do when someone passes so."
It was silent as I picked up the plates and put them in the sink as I turned around there he was, standing behind me as I turned. I let out a gasp as he stood a few inches away from me.
He placed his hand on my heart as I stood, staring into his eyes.
My mind began to wander, what it usually does when I come in contact with someone.'You hear her heart fellas it's bout' to fall out of her pretty little chest. Wait until you see what happens next pumpkin.'
My mind began to race through the brutality, but I didn't want Dexters' hand to shift away from my skin, I wanted this connection, I wanted to be able to have someone touch me without my mind crippling back into the fragile eleven year old I once was.
'Make a wish.'
I began to scream without any recognition. I resorted to the corner of my kitchen, holding my ears and closing my eyes shaking frantically . I couldn't help myself. My mind travels when I begin to feel anything.
"Allyson! Allyson!"
Dexter screamed as he continued to hold my arms.
"Make a wish, wish, wish...wish."
Repetition; all of the thoughts that remain in my mind, the ones that boggle it down and drown me,the ones that seem to be the most coherent are those of which my family leave me, those of which my family is slaughtered.
Dexter stuck a needle into my neck, causing me to lose consciousness.
