Chapter 5
As soon as the clock struck eleven-fifteen, the first animatronic moved. It was the monkey, standing up straight as it activated. His eyes glowed red, and he began to clap the cymbals in his hands together as he started walking.
Not going to lie, I was a bit creeped out. I was only going to get a lot more creeped out when the other ones started moving, especially the clown.
"Ray, the monkey started moving," I told my boyfriend.
Ray nodded before putting the microphone on the headset back to in front of his mouth. "Hello, boys. So I have been informed that the monkey has started moving." He covered the microphone. "Giovanni wants to know where the monkey is heading to."
"Hold on, let me check," Sterling said as he flipped through the cameras. "He did go straight from the entrance, but I haven't been in this arcade before so I don't know exactly where that leads to."
Ray uncovered the microphone. "Sterling said he went straight from the entrance, wherever that leads to. Hold on, let me remember. Oh, right, it leads to the kiosks. Duh. How else can we get coins as soon as we enter?"
"How exactly do we win this?" Johan asked. "They said if the animatronics get into our room, we lose. Aren't the doors locked?"
"That's true," Sterling said.
"There's probably going to be more to this 'game' than just keeping them out of this room," I said.
I was right.
A few minutes after the monkey made its way upstairs, the alligator activated and started moving. Once again, a few minutes passed and the hyena activated. The clown hadn't yet.
So far, the three animatronics were walking all around the arcade, not even going anywhere close to the control rooms. The clown still hadn't moved, and it had been more than the amount of time that passed between the other animatronics moving.
The phone in the control room suddenly rang. Sine it was on the comm centre where Ray was sitting, he felt around for it before his hands touched it. He picked it up without hesitation, taking of his headset before holding the phone up to his ear. "Hello?"
"You can't just answer the phone, dumbass!" I said.
Ray ignored me and listened to the other line before saying, "Archer, I need you to put the phone on speaker, please."
"No."
Ray huffed, a frown appearing on his face. "But it's the people who set up this fun game for us."
"Oh my god, why are you so stupid?" Sterling asked.
I glared at Sterling as I walked over to Ray. "Don't call him stupid." Yeah, Ray was a bit of a dumbass at times, but only I could call him that.
I turned the call on speaker and was about to say something, but Ray heard me press the button so he beat me to talking to the culprit first. "Alright, cool people! You're on speaker! Are you connected to all the control rooms or just this one?"
"Just this one," the voice on the other line said. If it was someone I knew, I wouldn't be able to recognize them since they were using a voice modulator. "I figured you can pass on the message to the others."
"Awe, I feel special that you chose to call this one!" Ray said with a bright smile. As annoyed as I was that Ray still wanted to be friends with whoever was doing this, at least they were making him smile. I absolutely loved his smile.
