Chapter 6
"Wow, I'm surprised you're the one looking for the keys for your group," Maddox said once I walked out of my group's control room and closed the door behind me.
"Yeah, wouldn't you want to stay glued to Ray's side?" Mo asked.
"Lover boy," Maddox said before he and Mo started making kissing noises.
"Are you two trying to make yourselves feel better for still being single?" I asked.
Maddox and Mo immediately stopped making the kissing noises as they both scowled. I guess they didn't like it when someone brought up the fact that they weren't dating anyone.
"You know what?" Maddox asked. "Ray is right. You are mean. I don't know how he has put up for you for three years."
The door of my group's control room suddenly opened, and Sterling stood thought with an annoyed look. "Seriously? You three are already supposed to be looking for the keys and you're standing out here talking? Just go already." He closed the door again.
"You're a lot meaner than Archer is," Maddox said. "Alright, let's go, boys."
"I say we go to the batting cages first," I said.
"As much as I want to, now isn't the time to practice batting."
"Who said anything about practicing batter? I want to get some bats to hit the animatronics with."
"That's so smart!" Mo asked. He then sighed. "But we probably can't do that. I would rather not get find for destroying something that isn't ours. Anyway, we should really start looking so we get the keys before the clown activates. Though it would be really cool to see the clown walking around."
"I know, right?" Maddox asked.
I didn't get how they were excited for this game and seemed like they genuinely wanted to play it. I would rather be at home right now, doing literally anything else. Like Ray.
Since the last time we checked the cameras, the animatronics weren't near any of the mini-golf holes, we decided to go there first. We were able to make it there without seeing, or hearing, any of the animatronics, except for the clown since we were walking by the entrance.
Maddox decided to walk up to the clown, which was actually taller than he was. "Wow, this thing looks so cool up close." He took his phone out and took a picture. "I've got to save this for later."
"At least turn off the flash," Mo said. "Clowns don't like flashes."
"Since when?" I asked.
"Uh, since always," Mo said.
"Now what do we have here?" Maddox asked, putting his phone back into his pocket before reaching into the clown's pocket.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
Maddox didn't reply. He just pulled his hand out, holding a vintage key. Exactly like the ones we needed to find. "Now that's cheating. It's like they want us to lose. I mean, it was sticking out a bit so they weren't trying to completely hide it but still."
"Can we go now?" I asked.
"Not yet," Maddox said, once again taking out his phone. "The three of us need to talk a selfie with the clown."
"No."
"Come on, Archer, don't be so boring," Mo said, walking over to the clown and standing beside it.
