After discussing it with our group, we decided to go trick or treating. Alyssa was over the moon. Rian, being the stick he is, was not.

I was sitting in class, waiting for the bell to rang and everyone else to walk in. There were some other students in the room, working on homework or chatting.

I was writing costume ideas down and what movies we could all watch after we go out. I was getting really stuck with costume ideas.

I wanted to do a zombie and have an excuse to rip up clothes but Jack already had that idea. Lisa and Alex were doing some couple costume that didn't look like one until they explain it.

And Rian refused to tell us his, saying it was a surprise. "Hey, Zack." I looked up at Max who was sitting in the seat next to me.

Usually Alex sat there but now he won't be able to. "Max." She looked over at the paper. "What are you working on?"

I looked at her. "Halloween costume ideas." She raised an eyebrow. "Oh. Are you coming to my party?" I shook my head.

"No, my friends and I are going trick or treating." She tried to hide her smile. "Isn't that for babies?" I rolled my eyes. Here we go.

"Yeah. Why is that? Children can dress up any day of the year and it's acceptable. But teens can't dress up at all. The only time they can is halloween. And now, they get ridiculed for going out and getting free candy?"

She stayed quiet. "Say what you want, but my friends and I are going to enjoy the evening and we don't need assholes like you ruining it."

The bell rang and the rest of the students in this class joined. Alex stared at Max and moved to her seat instead.

"Guys, why is finding a costume so hard?" Alex shut his locker and looked at me. "Be a vampire." I looked at Rian who joined us. "Are you going to be a vampire?"

He shook his head. I looked at the couple. "Are you guys?" They also shook their head. "I have an old cape from dance in middle school. You can use it."

I thanked Lisa. "Okay, so I need fangs and makeup and figure out how to do my hair." Jack joined us. "What about makeup?"

Alex filled him in. "Oh! Go to spirit Halloween. They have fangs and face paint you can use." Alyssa was the last to join us and hugged me from behind.

She has never done that before.

Rian and Jack gave me smirks. "What's going on?" I looked at her and tugged on my bag straps. "Figuring our how I'm gonna do makeup and hair for my Halloween costume."

She smiled. "I'll help. Just come over before we go trick or treating." Perfect. "Thanks. I guess we've got it all figured out then."

People started to leave and Alyssa turned to me. "So, what's your costume?" I smiled slightly. "I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours."

She got close to my face with a smile. I swear she could've kissed me if she tried. "That shall not be revealed."

She leaned away and I frowned slightly. "Damn. Why you so secretive?" She laughed. "I promise, it's a cool costume! I'm making it all by hand!"

Crafty and cute? Just my type.

SHIT, ZACK, STOP! "Well, I'm excited to see it." She went to her locker and Rian pat my shoulder. "You got excited by how close she was."

I groaned. "Why am I like this?" I put my head into my hands and shook it.
