Dedicating this one to Laylany95, one of the sequel supporters! Thank you... this is for you!
I sign the paper to certify that I received the order, and those thirty seconds of silence from Zack felt heavenly until he started crying again.
What kind of mother would abandon her child just like that, I gave a couple of hours for her to come back.
Zack was so tired of crying that he fell asleep, I felt so sorry as he was still sobbing in his sleep. I lay beside him my hand supporting my head, observing the poor boy with pity.
I hear a knock on my door and when I turn Teresa is standing by the door with her casual wear. "Excuse me. " She says.
"Come in." I nod to her.
"I just wanted to say that I'm off now." Teresa says, I stand up right.
"mmm, Teresa." I call. "Can you watch him for a while, while I go around looking for his mother around the neighbourhood."
"Sincerely." Teresa utters stepping closer, I know she is thinking what I'm just thinking. Even though I have been shutting down that idea every time it pops up in my head. "I don't think that woman was mistaken, she knew what she was doing." Teresa says and I stop myself from pouting with a frown.
"I'm just giving it the benefit of doubt." I say and move out of the bed slowly to not wake him up. At least now Teresa will have some good reason to be in this house, because I don't know what is her job here; okay, maybe I know and I try to ignore her presence. Lately I had to tell her just to come twice a week, only when I call her.
I walked around the neighbourhood, got a couple of doors slammed on my face. A couple of wondering odd gazes, a maid that knows nothing but Spanish, some told their kids to get in the house quickly, one guy almost called FBI and the one that made my day. 'Hey, are you the stripper... what is that fantasy supposed to be?... I don't care, I can't wait to see her take it off''. Inside me I told them, 'pray that my husband doesn't know what you just said.' But their stupid faces got me feeling sorry, I just turned on my heels rolling my eyes and called off the search.
I got into the house and sighed before removing my hijab and marching to my room feeling over worn.
Zack is playing with Teresa, I don't know how she turned that around. But thank you, hope that last for long.
"You two are getting along just fine, I see." I mutter and Teresa notices my presence in the room.
"Nothing." She utters and I only nod. "I think you should report." She says before sliding out of the room. I follow her movement with my eyes and look back to the kid that was busy playing with a toy that came with him.
I look at him and I don't want him to end up in an orphanage, I can't keep him but also I don't know if the authorities will let me adopt him.
Oh, what am I thinking? What if the mother comes back? Maybe she had to do something that a child would be in danger?
I can't get too attached, to not get hurt after.
"Hey, Zack." I say sitting to the floor, my shoulder supporting on the bed edge. He looks at me with a plain expression on his face and goes back to play with his toy.
"You want to eat something?" I try and he just ignores me. "Okay." I say and stand up quickly. I go up to the kitchen and get soup that I had prepared.
I have the feeling that I will have to persuade him to eat.
Didn't work because he just brushed the food out of my hand as I was trying to feed him. I try some cookies and juice and he didn't even bother to look at it.
