WHEN KAILANI HARLOW JOINED THE HYPE HOUSE, everything started to crumble. She thought it was one of her bright ideas to join the elite and sometimes infamous group of influencers. At first, she'd simply joined for her best friend but later on she realized — after a series of disappointments, that she was a star in her own right and was a positive influence on everyone inside and fans on the outside.
Though only after a few short months, Charli had found other interests. They went from being joined at the hip to perfect strangers. It felt like the second she found Chase, she pushed her away like it was easy. She started ignoring her texts, abandoning her when they were trying to make time to hang out, and just became distant in general.
The hype life wasn't all it was hyped up to be and Kai soon discovered that she was ready to move onto bigger things. Like the young independent super-mogul she was, she decided to finally pay attention to her acting career. As luck would have it, she landed a role in a new Disney show which lead her to the girl of her dreams.
It only took four months of awkward flirting around the craft table, goofing around in what were supposed to be study sessions, and bashfully entering each other's trailers unannounced for her and Quinn to realize that they liked one another. She was like a dream come true for Kai, there was not a single flaw she didn't like and today just proved it.
Her girlfriend was cool letting them hang out with her former best friend and ex-crush, so why was Kai freaking out as she spotted the girl in the open-air of the mall?
"Kai!" Charli ran up to the girl with tawny skin, she looked even more radiant with the beams of golden sunlight that was shining down. There was a small hesitation to pull her into a hug but Kailani responded well, hugging her tightly instead.
"Hey, Charli," Kailani smiled, genuine happiness sneaking up on her. As much as she wanted to not be happy to see her, she really was. She probably was a bit excited too.
She felt Charli tense, pulling away from the hug, she noticed the other girl peek out from behind them and smiled widely at her.
"Hi, Charli! I've heard so much about you," Quentin smiled back, she emerged from the corner, shopping bags in her hands, "I just bought Morphe 2, I'm just...wow. It's so freaking good!"
Damn it. Charli was hoping to hate her but she was so genuine, she could see why Kailani would fall for someone like her. Quentin probably wouldn't drop her without any explanation or ditch her for a guy that turned out to be trash.
Charli smiled back, "thank you so much. It's so great to meet you, I've heard a lot about you too." She gasped a little as she was pulled into another hug, a very long and loving hug by someone she barely knew.
