Sunset was dragging us to the elevator. Then she put something on her finger and pressed it next to the up button. Then the elevator started going down. I realized we were on the main floor. How could we be going down?
"What does Bella have to do with this?" I asked Sunset.
The elevator stopped. Sunset dragged us out and she finally let go of my wrist. I began rubbing it.
"What was that for!" I looked around. We were in some kind of lab/house. Then I noticed that my ears were starting to grow in.
I pulled my hat down tighter before anyone could notice, but apparently someone did, because Bella said, "Take that hat off right now! I need to study your ears!"
      "Wait. What?" I said nervously.
"Don't play dumb, I know all about hybrids! Well, I want to know all about hybrids, so I need to find hybrids so that I can study them!" I could barely understand what she was saying, because she was talking a million miles an hour.
"Wait, are you a hybrid?" I said suspiciously.
"Well, of course I'm not a hybrid, otherwise, I would already know everything about hybrids already!" She snapped. Then I noticed that our whole table was in the lab.
"Wait, so everyone else here is a hybrid?" Alex said. She looked like she was about to explode.
"So that's how you knew what a hybrid was." Roxy said, nodding to herself.
"So, what is everyone? Also, technically, I'm not a hybrid either." I said sheepishly.
"Wait what!?" Sunset said. "I brought you down here for nothing!?"
"Well, no," I said, "I'm actually a tribrid."
      "Oh, okay, whew!" Sunset said.
"Wait, a tribrid?" Bella asked incredulously. "I've never been able to study a tribrid before!"
"Aren't those, like, super rare?" Alex asked.
"Very interesting." Bella said. "Can you change on command yet?" Bella asked. "This opens up a whole new area of knowledge."
"Not into a complete wolf yet, but my mom is trying to teach me. I can kinda do it though." I replied.
"Although, seriously, what is everyone, and how were you able to round us all up, Sunset?" I asked.
"Well, me and Bella have been friends for a really long time, so Bella is used to us hybrids, she can usually tell when someone is a hybrid easy peasy. With a bit of science of course." Sunset said, putting her arm around Bella. "Oh yeah, and I'm a butterfly!" Sunset answered.
      "I'm a fox!" Roxy said.
      "Cat." CJ said.
      "I'm also a tribrid. I'm a wolf and a dragon." Alex said.
"Oh me too!" I said. "Well, the wolf and dragon part, I already said I was a tribrid."
"Now, about that hat!" Bella said, ripping it off. I concentrated and urged my ears out slowly.
"Fascinating." She said as my wings came out, ripping small holes in my T-shirt. Then the wolf tail.
"I love your wings!" Sunset said, "But... They're not as pretty as mine!" She said as her butterfly wings came out, followed by little purple antennae.
Her wings really were gorgeous. Hers were all the colors of the sunset, like her name.
Mine were silver with light grey crescents like moons up in the corners of them. Then Roxy's orange tail and ears came out, then CJ, with his black tail and ears, then Alex.
Alex was kind of mis-matched, one wing was blue, one was red, her dragon tail was split down the middle like her hair. Same with her ears, one red, one blue. Then I noticed her eyes, they were the same as the rest of her, but where everything was red, her eye was blue, and vice-versa. I really was not as colorful as everyone else. I was just plain black, black hair, black ears, black tail. Except for my wings of course, which were silver on the inside. On the outside they were just the same as everything else: black.
Bella looked like she was about to burst out of excitement. She was running around us all asking us about how it felt to have wings sprout out of your back and other nonsense.
"Uh, I do have one question, how did you find out about this place?" I asked Bella.
"My grandpa. His best friend was a hybrid, and he and his friend accidentally found out about it while he was trying to hide his friend from everybody else, and when I told him about Sunset, he told me about this place!" She was talking a million miles an hour again. Then I looked over at Roxy and saw that she had a wistful expression as Bella talked about her grandpa.
"Wow, I just wish I had someone to watch over me while I grew up." Roxy said sadly.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Well, my parents left me at an orphanage when I was 4." Roxy explained.
      "You're an orphan!?" I cried.
"Yeah, although it's really not that bad, living at the orphanage." She replied, but her face said otherwise.
"You are coming over to my house. You are going to see what it's like to have a family." I said.
"Really!?" She said, "But the orphanage won't let me go anywhere after school."
"Then I'll just have to adopt you." I said. No one was going to change my mind.
      "Really!?" She said again.
"Uh, shouldn't we be going somewhere else?" CJ said.
"Oh yeah, school!" Alex said. Then I remembered that it was still school hours. I ran to the elevator. We all piled in, changed back to normal looking humans, and ran back to our classes.
"Meet back after school!" Bella shouted as she ran toward her class.
"Yup!" I said. I didn't hear what everyone else said, I was too busy being late.
