Backstory: Shortly after moving to Berlin Lars left in the middle of the night, leaving 15 year old Hans to look after and support his mother and siblings. When Anna and Gunther turned 16 they dropped out of school to help their older brother provide. When the war started Hans was drafted, but Johanna's brother, Klaus, got him an officer's commission in the Afrika Corp. With Hans gone Anna and Gunther were left to support their family while times were getting harder. Hans sent back as much as he could, but they still barely scraped by. Marie was killed when she was trying to help an elderly woman get to a bomb shelter. Shortly after dropping out of school, Anna met a young man named Alex Cohen. They quickly fell in love, and got engaged. For several years they kept it a secret. Why keep it secret you may ask? Alex was Jewish. Not even Gunther knew about him. Shortly after Marie's death, Anna went to get see Alex. She was a block away when she heard shouting and shots being fired. Anna jumped into a run. When she got to where the shots had been fired she saw Alex and his younger brother laying on the ground in a mingled pool of their blood. Alex was gone, but Pedar.........he was barely alive. As she tried to help him she felt weak, then saw everything go black. She woke up in a room she did not recognize. As she tried to rise, she felt a pain in her side. She felt someone hurry to her side. It was a young woman around her age. "Lie back now miss. You've been shot." After several weeks recuperation she was told what happened. The underground had been helping Alex's family escape Germany. Only Alex and Pedar were left. Somehow the German soldiers found out about it. The Underground fighters that were on their way to get Alex and Pedar heard the shots and came around the corner just in time to see Anna collapse. They explained to her that everyone thought she was dead. Including the military. Which was a valuable thing in these times. It broke her heart that Gunther thought she was gone. But she decided to put it to good use. She could come and go like a shadow now. She joined the resistance. To avenge her loved one's death.
