I didn’t get very far. Sure, I was a really good runner, but this dress, these heels..
I fell.
I groaned in defeat and slumped on the ground. The crowd gasped. Then, thoughts came rushing through my head. I kept thinking, what’s the point? I shouldn’t be running away, after I had promised Max.
So, I sucked in as much air as my lungs would allow, stood up, walked back down the aisle, stood in front of Max, and picked a rose petal of my dress. I saw his eyebrows shoot up and a tiny smile form on his lips.
“Uh.. I do?”
My mother and Aaron, and Ant and Anna both erupted into fits of yelling, hugging and laughing. Everybody else sitting down was cheering.
The priest gave a chuckled. “Wonderful,” he mumbled. “Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, Mr. And Mrs. O’Donnell! You may now kiss the bride.”
Max hesitated to approach me at first; I guessed he was too shocked. So I grinned and threw my arms around his neck and crashed my lips to his. Immediately, his arms wrapped around my waist and picked me up, spinning me in one circle before setting me down. As he continued to kiss me, I started thinking, God, why didn’t this happen sooner!?
I sort of forgot the time and the place, because next thing I knew, he pulled back and smiled at me. I pouted, and then suddenly remembered.
Angel threw her arms around me.
“Oh Cece! I’m so proud of you! But why did you run?”
“It’s complicated.”
Max came from behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist, pressing his lips to my neck. “Well, hello, Mrs. O’Donnell.”
I giggled. “Well hello, Mr. O’Donnell.”
He laughed and whispered in my ear, “When I look at you everyday, I think you’re a dream. And you come here looking like this..”
I cocked an eyebrow. “Is that good?”
“Very.”

“Do you, Aaron Jacob Robertson, take Natalie Laura Alvarez to be your lawfully wedded wife, for sick-”
“I wouldn’t have asked her if I was gonna say no, so hurry up.”
I raised my eyebrows and suppressed a laugh.
“And do you, Natalie Laura Alvarez, take Aaron Jacob Robertson to be your lawfully-”
“I wouldn’t be here if I was going to say no, so hurry your ass up.”
Oh, mom. I shook my head and laughed. Max’s tightened his arms around me.
“I give you, Mr. and Mrs. Robertson! You may now kiss your lovely bride.” I stood up from Max’s lap and clapped and cheered like a crazy person, not caring that my mom was going to break the poor man’s heart in less than a month.
They shared a passionate kiss and walked down the aisle. I flung my arms around my mom and yelled in her ear, “Congratulations!!”
Then I hugged Aaron, giving him a warning look. “Do anything to hurt her and I’ll hurt you, deal?”
“Pinky promise,” he said, holding out his pinky. Pleased, I twined my finger with his and smiled.
“You break the pinky promise and I’ll break your pinky. Promise.”
