Silvia marched around the entire shabby, old mansion. The predator never knew when they became prey, never saw their death approaching and never had a chance to counterattack.
She was quick in her movements and ruthless in her decisions. After cleaning almost the entire house, she took a breather and cautiously inspected the entire house for any survivors. She actually found two and judging from the voices, one was a middle aged man while other was a little girl of around eight.
Silvia peeked through the holes in the door of the almost broken door and saw that the man was standing respectfully on the side of the little girl who was sitting on a large leather chair, inspecting a small, grey bird in her hands. She watched closely as the little girl took out a scalpel, and threatened the little bird.
"Stop pretending and show your true form already, or prepare to die." The girl screamed.
Noticing that both the girl and the man was focused on the bird, she took out the two blades she found on the men she killed, and with one precise throw, her blades tore through the flesh of their throat. After making sure that they are dead, she entered the room cautiously.
It was a magical world, if she learned anything from the training, that was to never trust anything over here. Anything could be magical, anything could be cursed. She had to remain extremely vigilant.
After making sure that there was nothing dangerous here, she inspected the two bodies without an ounce of pity in her eyes.
"How did you know the little girl was dangerous?" A deep, course voice sounded from behind her and Silvia was on alert again. She looked around for the speaker but didn't find anything.
Until the cute little grey bird flapped it's wings and changed into a giant half eagle and half horse like creature. "Don't be scared. I'm not gonna hurt you." The bird reassured but it did nothing to lower Silvia's guard.
Like hell she'll believe the words of a beast whose work was to feed on the life force. The creature in front of her was an Ancephelion, a creature of darkness that feeds on life force of people to increase their power level. Ancephelions were shapeshifters that could change their form to any other animal and acquire it's specific powers and traits. Letting a dangerous beast anywhere close to herself was pure and absolute foolishness. And Silvia was many things, but being foolish was not one them.
The Ancephelion sensed the suspicion and the killing intend from the human in front of it. A few seconds ago, he was already waiting for its death by the hands of a lowly demon who trapped him with an enchantment. The demon was a shapeshifter itself and shifted into a little human girl. The Ancephelion let his guard down and approached the girl to hunt it but he never thought that the prey would turn out to be he himself.
The demon was not a very strong one to be able to subdue an Ancephelion but was strong enough to cast an entrapment spell on it while it's guard was down. He wanted to form a bond with the spiritual beast to increase his cultivation level.
He threatened to kill the beast if it did not accept him as it's master. But accepting such a lowly demon as it's master was against it's pride so it turned into a little bird and prepared to die rather than be degraded by this demon. He never expected that his captor would never have the chance to do a shit and would be hunted down instead. Then he looked at the killer and was shocked again to find a little human girl in her teens to do such viciousness.
He searched the human's mana to make sure it wasn't another shapeshifter but found nothing. Either this person was really just a little human which was highly unlikely, or she was shapeshifter with greater mana than himself. The thought of that made him tremble.
"Are you some high ranked demon." He asked.
Silvia looked at it vigilantly and uttered hardly, "no."
"How did you know the little girl was dangerous?" It asked again.
"I didn't." She replied without any remorse. Evil, sick, sadistic to kill a little kid? Maybe. Did she care? No.
Silvia had been into real war and had personally encountered how sick a human's mind can be. Little kids are brainwashed to become suicide bombers by terrorists. Leaving even a child alive could mean death especially in such a vulnerable state. And she couldn't die before completing her mission. Or billions of children would die. Silvia never really cared about her own life. But life of her planet was important.
The Ancephelion was dumbstruck to listen to her words. Her words were absolutely barbaric. But a protective aura escaped from her. Spirit Beasts had a natural instinct to look into a human soul and measure a person's character.
The woman in front of him was ruthless and animalistic to the very core, but could die to protect what she considered her's. Her people would always have her protection.
"Step aside." Silvia ordered the beast with the authority of a general.
The Ancephelion had very complicated feelings at this moment. The girl in front of him was clearly a weak little human that he could kill with one claw. But the authority and command in her voice made the knees of his four legs tremble. It was like the person in front of him could command people's respect without even trying. Like she was way higher than normal human beings.
Seeing that there was nothing left for her to do, Silvia started to leave but the Ancephelion stopped her.
"Wait." He cried.
