“I don’t understand what you think it’s wrong about this” I said to Demi, trying to be confident. Someday she should understand that this isn’t the life I dreamed about.

“You can’t be serious, you can’t just leave home like this! We have a stable and great life right here, there’s nothing to complain!” She said.

I didn’t like being tough with her, she’s just a kid, doesn’t understand my needs.

“Demi, I thought you were the only person that could understand me, but it seems that you are not! There are just few months for my 21st birthday now! I’m no more a kid, I have to start writing my own history! And the life that I want isn’t this one when I’m sitting in an office all day that my parents dream for me. You know that, you know me, and I have always said that I don’t care about the money and all this comfort we have in here. I want more! And with or without your or my family’s approval, that’s what I’m going to have!”

She left my room tapping her feet like a spoiled child making prank, but I was used. I hate when she does it! We are like sisters, so I think this is affecting her, she just want everything to be the same. Our life is good, I can’t deny. We are two girls very privileged. But what she has to understand is that money is not the answer for every single thing, it’s not the answer for happiness, and it’s not the answer for my happiness, specifically. I know that lot of people will not accept this easy, just like Demi, but it’s my life and I’m decided that it’s going to change.

“Mom, I’m going to Manhattan.” I said taking my package

“You what? Does your father know about it?”

“No mom, you tell him, I’m just going to spend dome days for rest”

“That’s okay daughter, take care, in need, just call me, love you”

“Okay mom, I’m going before I miss the fly, love you too” Always busy, she doesn’t even mind about all this package. Jennifer’s advantage.

The driver came to the door and helped with all the package…

I have been so many times at this airport… In our family, making last minute travels has always been a normal thing, and since I was 16 I’m allowed to venture out there, that’s why this wasn’t a problem this time. What my parents didn’t know is that I didn’t mean to come back home…

I was ready to go to the plane when suddenly I felt a touch on my shoulder. When I turned back, Oh My Gosh, Demi!!

“Baby, I knew you’d be here!” I said very excited going to hugh her.

“Hi Jen. Do you really think I would let you go without saying a goodbye?”

“What do you mean with saying goodbye? Aren’t you going with me?” I was really disappointed and I think she could see it through my expression. After the fight we had in the last time Demi was in my house, I went to hers for a little talk. We have talked a lot and I thought I had convinced her how would be better a free live in New Yok, I even thought I had, in a sense, impressed her… and when I saw her here, for a minute, I was sure that she would go with me, but it seems that I’m wrong.

“Jennifer, you know what I think about this, it’s madness, your parents think that you’re just doing a simple trip… but I’m your friend and came here to at least say goodbye.”

“Okay, Demi, I won’t press you, and I don’t wanna leave without being good with you, but I know that I put something in your mind in our last talk! I’m going to make your mind, I won’t be far from you, brat!”

She made a face and we started laughing.

“I love you Jen, be careful.”

“I love you too, baby.”

I was going to the gates when I heard her yelling: “You’re going to New York!!” And I knew she really didn’t like American Idol, this was MY favorite show!
