I'll stay with you chapter 2
Drip. Drip. "AHHH" Drip. Drip "AHHH"
I sat up, scared. Have they come for Ethan and I? My shallow breathing became regular as I realised that I was safe in my bed, that my uncle had many guards around and we wouldn't be hurt. I looked at the time. 2:36am. Damn, another sleepless night for me it will be.
CRASH!
"WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?" I heard from down stairs. It must have been my uncle yelling pretty loudly for me to hear it on the third floor. Slowly creeping out of my room downstairs, I started to wonder what my uncle actually did for a living. He had a business, but I don't think that it was big enough to pay for this house and all the cars he owned. I'll have to ask him another time. Reaching his study and opening the door, I and saw four people standing, all surrounding something I couldn't see. Tying my dark brown wavy hair in a bun, I tried to walk as confidently as I could towards the tall and intimidating men.
" What's going on here?" I asked with a steady voice, inside I was shaking with fear. I could smell the blood in the room. It brought back memories that I didn't want being brought back.
"You will not break down now, you've done so well so far" I reprimanded myself. My uncle turned around and gave me a pleading look.
"Larissa, please go back upstairs" I glared back at him. Like he just told me that. Pushing through the scary men, I gasped in shock at what I saw in front of me. A guy, about my age was laying in the couch, he had been shot in the stomach and was loosing way too much blood. I went into autopilot mode, taking off my cardigan and wrapping it around the wound.
"Larissa! The doctor will be here shortly. He said not to do anything until he gets there." My uncle said in a panic. Whoever this is must be really important to him.
"Uncle, if we don't do anything he's going to die from blood loss." I said, a bit annoyed that he didn't know this himself. He stayed quiet so I took it as he understood what I was saying.
"Hey, can you hear me?" I asked the guy. He groaned painfully in response.
Two hours later, I walked up stairs, tired from the stitching I had just done. After Ethan had been stabbed, I invested in learning basic stitching so I could help others and not feel useless. I was glad I did. The asshole doctor never showed up and the guy would've died by the time they could have gotten him to a hospital. I wondered why the doctor didn't show up, some doctor.
I walked into to my room only to find a crying Ethan, laying on top of my bed. I hurried over to him
"Eth, what's wrong?" I asked him concerned. He looked up and threw himself in my arms, sobbing loudly.
"I thought you left without me." He wailed. My heart broke, my little brother shouldn't have to deal with those type of thoughts. "Protect him until the end," a voice in my head said while another said "You can't always be here, let him grow up" I closed my eyes and let myself drift away.
"Larrrrrrriiiissssssaaaaa!"
"Shhhhh, don't wake her. She doesn't sleep often."
"But I wanna play nerf guns"
"I'll play with you then..."
"YES! Lets go Uncle Kyle"
I smiled in my half sleep state and drifted back off...
"AHHHHH, WHAT WAS THAT!?"
I woke up with a start, moans of pain were coming from down the stairs. A smile stretched across my face as I realised what had happened. Ethan was a pro at nerf. He had won competitions and awards for his nerfing. Running down the stairs, I come to the kitchen, finding Uncle Kyle on the ground clutching his manhood in pain. Chucking, I turn an accusing eye to Ethan, who just shrugs innocently. That's my boy.
"Uncle Kyle, are you okay? What happened?" I asked trying to not to laugh.
"That kid! You taught him that didn't you?" He moaned in pain. It turns out Ethan had shot him in close range more than a couple of times where the sun don't shine.
"Be a man uncle! You better pull yourself together. Didn't you say you had some people you wanted me to meet?" I chuckled. His head snapped up like I'd told him the world was about it end and ran off to his study. Wow, that was a turn off events.
"Common buddy, time to get dressed."
Two hours later I was watching "Despicable Me." One if my favourite movies!
"I sit on the toilet." Gru says in his Russian accent.
"HAHAHAHHA" I laughed loudly and fell off the couch. It was just so funny.
"HAHAHAHHA, why are so funny, movie?" Tears had started rolling down my face as I laughed on the floor. This is the first time I've laughed in ages. Why didn't I watch this before?
"Larissa! How can you be laughing at something so childish?" My uncle asked with a grimace. He stood at the door of my room, with an unreadable expression on his face. It was cold and I stopped laughing and stood up straight.
"Yes, uncle? What can I so for you?" I asked him emotionless, I don't why his tone if voice effected me so much but I was always told I was to emotional, so I decided that I should start shutting them down.
Surprised crossed his face, probably due to the change of my voice,
" I just wanted to tell you that some people will be at your school. They work for me and I thought maybe you would like to meet them." He offered me a formal smile. Okay Larissa. Time to put your plan into action. I smirked and said, "Sure, it's not like I have any friends here."
I brushed past him and I felt him tense up, he knew something was up.
"Larissa, this is Miranda and Jack. They work for me and go to the same school as you will be." Uncle Kyle introduced. I looked at the girl who was pale and had brown hair. She was pretty I decided. The guy on the other hand, had some sort of dork-ness around him. I just wanted to play with his curly hair. No Larissa! You can't just play with some randoms hair... talk about weird. I smiled at them. "Hi guys, nice to meet you." I tried to sound polite, but it sounded forced. They both looked at me intently. Miranda looked like she was searching for something, for what have no idea. Jack, he was just looking at me like he knew everything and he understood. I doubt he knew though, I mean how could he?
Suddenly, Uncle Kyle's phone rings, interrupting me from my thoughts.
"Yes... you were successful?... Yes bring him in." He said then hung up the phone.
Woah, that sounded odd. I'm curious now...
"So Miranda you can go now if you want and Jack, we have something to discuss" Uncle Kyle declared. I took a look at my uncle, waiting for him to say something to me. However, nothing was said. I flashed one more smile at my new 'friends' and walked out of the room. Instead of going upstairs, I peeled to the right and stood out of sight. I was going to find out what my uncle did.
My mission was clear. Operation Find Out What Uncle Kyle Does, was in the most important part. I got out my inner stalker and quietly followed the men to a room that was always closed. I waited five minutes before before walking in. This was the door the the basement I realised as I walked down the stairs.
"You've stolen from me. What do I do to people who steal from me." I heard a cold voice say. I shivered in fear. I could tell that was one guy who you didn't want to mess with. Poking my head out from behind a box of crates, I gasped in shock. It was my uncle, he had a dangerous expression on his face.
"I will kill them, that's what. Boys!" My eyes filled with tears for the man who was tied to the chair. He couldn't be older than 20, his body was bruised and there was a massive gash at the side of his head. His sandy blonde hair was greasy. I think he was on the run. Poor guy wasn't smart enough.
Crack.
His neck broke. I let out a sob.
Wiping away the tears and I walked out from behind the crates into the light,
"So uncle, what is it that you actually do?"
