I was a few drinks in and feeling a bit tipsy. Fortunately I was two ahead of Morgan and despite the size advantage he was on the verge of being wasted. Prentiss had to intervene before he did something stupid and pulled him away from the bar laughing. 'How are you holding your drinks so well?' She asked surprised. I smiled up at her from the booth where me, Reid, JJ and Garcia were sitting after being dragged into a game of Blackjack with by Reid who hadn't taken a sip of the beer I'd shouted him. 'What can I say, we Aussies are built different.' I said smugly before Reid knocked on the table causing the rest of us the groan. 'How do you manage to win a game of chance every time?' JJ said, getting up to play darts across the bar. Garcia shook her head with mock disappointment.
'I'm sorry baby girl.' Morgan said as he swayed unsteadily.
Garcia snatched Morgan's car keys from his pocket. 'I'll take him home.' She said hugging us all goodbye before leaving with Morgan out into the night. Prentiss went to play darts with JJ leaving me and Reid alone in the booth. 'So how? How do you win everytime?' I asked.
Reid beckoned me closer, and I leaned in across the table. 'Theres only a fourteen percent chance that you will loose 3 of 3 consecutive hands.'
That didn't help me at all. 'Thanks stat-boy. Now what is that I smell on your breath?'
Sure enough half his pint was gone.
'Thought you said you didn't drink?' I said with a triumphant smile.
'I can make exceptions.' His smile was cheeky.
My eyes lit up as I heard my favourite song blaring on the dance floor. I grabbed Reids hand and dragged him over to the crowd that had formed. Our bodies moved smoothly against each-other as Reid began to loosen up, his arms heavy around my waist, mine draped around his neck. His breath quickened with his heartbeat and I felt entranced as I looked up at his face under the flashing lights. I lead Reid over to the bar and before I could even ask for a drink the man in the barstool beside me turned to face me. 'Want a drink honey?' He asked. I was tempted, the drinks in America were pricey.
'No. She doesn't' Reid said firmly from over my shoulder.
'Aw shut up Reid!' I joked, my hand reaching up to catch his shoulder.
'Yeah, shut up Reid.' The man imitated.
'Hey.' I frowned.
'C'mon let's go Aud, you're drunk.' Reid whispered in my ear, but I was mad.
'Shut you're mouth.' I spat, leaning towards the man.
'Watch it girly.' The man guwaffed. 'What are you and you're beanpole boyfriend gonna do?'
I was taken aback, giving Reid time to pull me away. 'The drinks are really starting to hit me now.' I drawled.
'I can tell.' Reid replied, draping me over his shoulder so we could walk me out to a taxi.
...
I woke up to the sound of a phone ringing. I sat up in my bed and scrabbled around on my bedside table for my phone but it wasn't there. I looked down to see I was still wearing the shirt and slacks I had on yesterday. I climbed out of bed and almost screamed when I almost trod on Reid who was fast asleep on my bedroom floor. 'Reid!' I hissed. 'Reid! uGH!' Where was the goddamn ringing coming from? I finally found a phone that was ringing, but it wasn't mine. 'Hello?' I asked answering it.
'Who is this?' Prentiss asked.
Shit. I kneeled down on the floor and shook Reid awake, who looked around confused before I shoved the phone into his hand and he quickly sprung into action. 'Hello?' He said in the cutest morning voice. I shook those thoughts from my head as a phone started ringing again. I quickly located my phone tangled amongst my doona and I quickly answered it. 'Monroe? We need you here now.' Hotch demanded.
'Ah- yes sir. Sorry I'll be there in ten!' I said hanging up as I began to pull on a pair of converse that I must of kicked off onto the floor last night. 'C'mon Reid we're late!' I said ushering him out of my small apartment and onto the street, we virtually sprinted to the closest bus stop and caught it just in time arriving at the BAU by 10 past 9. We made it inside and made the walk of shame into the conference room muttering apologies. I slid down beside Morgan as the presentation started, up on screen was Reid's case from yesterday. Apparently Miami police had made a connection and we were heading there in half an hour. Morgan turned to me. 'How are you not hungover?' He asked, taking a swig of his large coffee.
'What did I say last night? Australian's are built different. Oh, and you owe me 30.'
'No way did you get Reid to drink?' He hissed as we walked back to our desks to collect our go bags. I just laughed. 'I'll expect the money by tonight.'
I grabbed some things from my drawer when I felt a presence behind me, and I swung around to see Reid standing closer than normal. 'Are you gonna give me a cut?' He asked polietly.
'What?'
'A cut of the 30. I mean, I'm the reason you're getting it in the first place.' And with a small smile he sauntered away.
