everyone knows that when you die, you either ascend to heaven or fall to hell. the system isn't exemplary, so sometimes a person's life could get mixed with another and the location of their post-lives would be switched. you could amble around heaven and get the sense that some so-called "angels" don't belong there and vice versa.

ju haknyeon wandered around the depths of hell, frowning at the cold shoulders given to him every time he passed by a fellow devil. most other devils who knew haknyeon debated whether or not he belonged in hell. his soft, innocent features gave off the aura of an angel, yet he was dressed in all black like the others.

meanwhile, kim sunwoo virtuously strolled around the utopia of heaven, dressed in all white. his hair was a light brown and had streaks of sparkling silver. a pure smile plastered his face as he greeted any angels he passed. at times, sunwoo's facial features were quite jarring, but his fellow angels shook it off and saw him as an equal.

one who managed to visit both worlds supposed that the two boys were misplaced after death. they had both died at around the same time, so that theory was very plausible.

yet they never talked about what caused their deaths.

those in heaven didn't even remember, while devils used it as a way to boast, comparing the levels of tragedy between them.

right now, haknyeon was sitting with some other older devils, quietly listening to them compete about whose death was more harrowing. the words being thrown around were too chilling for the youngest and he didn't want to hear any more of it. instead, he went to go look for his friends, heo hyunjoon and son youngjae.

sunwoo, on the other hand, flew down to earth where he stayed for a couple of hours to watch the people. he received some strange stares towards his direction, which he wasn't very confused about. based on the way he dressed, sunwoo looked like some child of god, and he kind of is one. if he saw anything going wrong, he quickly resolved it, smiling slightly to himself afterward. he loved seeing people happy, and all the angels saw it.

out of the corner of his eye, he saw two people outside a coffee shop arguing with each other. it seemed like they had been fighting over spilled coffee. quietly approaching them, sunwoo waved around his fingers, and a small stream of gold dust surrounded the two (which they couldn't see, of course). he turned around to move on with his day until he heard them arguing again.

turning back to the people, he caught a glimpse of ashes, along with black wings that disappeared immediately from his sight and into the ground. sunwoo knew for sure that it was the work of a devil. about the people, he wasn't sure whether or not it would be worth it to fix their relationship again, so he decided to ignore it.

at the same time, haknyeon was on his way back to the underworld after completing a short mission. it just became a habit and a fun activity for devils to travel up to earth just to cause some mayhem, whether it was starting arguments or causing car crashes. nothing big, they're just trying to slowly rot the earth one person at a time. for haknyeon, who was one of the most innocent devils, didn't take pride in the chaos, but it was his job.

"nice work, ju haknyeon," said juyeon, who always called everyone by their full name for unknown reasons.

"thank you." haknyeon glided away, sighing as he did so.

"hey, get over here, loser!" it was jaehyun, who on the other hand, didn't put any effort in learning names, just faces.

the presumed "loser" turned around to make his way to the older. jaehyun had a devilish smile on his face (as usual) and prepared to talk as if what he was saying was the most important thing in the world.

"i have another mission for you." the boy gleamed as he explained what he wanted haknyeon to do.

"so you know how some of our friends are still alive from that night? i want you to find them and bring them here, so we can all be together. and i'm pretty sure some of them went to heaven," he groaned and rolled his eyes while mentioning the contrasting location, "i want you to bring them here too. i know we're not supposed to be involved with them, but isn't it unfair that we're here in hell?"

haknyeon deeply thought about jaehyun's words for a while. when people turn into angels, the cause of their death is erased from their memory, whereas in hell, everyone remembers. what would be the point of bringing those in heaven back if they might not even remember their friends? he thought that maybe he should just let it go and realize that everything happens for a reason.

then again, haknyeon was a devil. a slight smirk appeared on his face while his senses took over.

"okay, i'll try. i'll take on changmin and chanhee first, but i have to find a way to kill them."

ji changmin and choi chanhee were the only two left of their friend group who were still human, while the rest either resided in the underworld or heaven.

jaehyun nodded and strutted away, a grin plastered on his evil-like face. although he was dead, a part of his personality remained. something about the way he walked and talked was very sassy.

meanwhile, one with very sharp vision could spot a little pair of white wings peeking out behind a statue close to the bench where the two devils once occupied.
