Chapter 1: Blackness
I opened my eyes and saw black. All around. Everywhere. Smothering me, crushing me, DESTROYING me. Everything hurts. EVERY SINGLE THING. Worse, I could only remember a few things: My name, Jo, gender (female), age, 17, and the facts I learned from school and other places. I could only remember facts, not people, places, or anything like that.
Greaaat.....what was I going to do? Step one: figure out what I was wearing. To do that I needed a light. I seriously wondered where the light was. Maybe it was midnight or something. I just noticed I had a wristwatch! I pressed a random button and my watch lit up with a soft blue light. It wasn't really bright, but the outside world was so dark the light from my watch lit it up with the equivalent brightness of a super-flashlight.
Well, now I had a light. Part one of step one completed! I used the light from the watch to see what I was wearing and gasped. I was wearing a beautiful sleeveless blue dress that gradually changed color from the top to bottom. The top of my dress was aqua blue, and the color got darker farther down. The bottom of my dress was sea foam green. I was wearing black skinny jeans under my dress, and the jeans had some hidden pockets. I decided to wait to find out what was in them.
A glint caught my eye. I saw a broken mirror on the ground. I picked it up, polished it off and looked in the mirror. I had chestnut brown hair that went down to about just below my ribs, and PURPLE eyes. Wow. From the facts I remembered, purple eyes were really rare. I also managed to notice that I had a nice, flat stomach, and looked skinny. Nice.
I looked at my wristwatch again, pressed the same button to turn off the light and then turn it back on. I looked at the time. It was...... noon. The sun should be high up in the sky. Having a feeling something was terribly wrong, I used the watch light to survey my suroundings and yet again gasped. I saw a city, with crumbled down buildings all around. There were vines and greenery growing everywhere. Ignoring my aching body, I got up and started walking closer, deciding to investigate. As I was walking, I happened to notice that I was wearing a mixture of a hightop-converse-heel shoe on both feet. They were a sea foam green- aqua-ish color.
As I walked closer to the ruins of the city, the mirror I still held in my hand made a sort of vibrating movement. I looked down at the mirror, stopped walking, and noticed the mirror had fogged up. No matter what I did, the mirror stayed fogged up. Giggling maybe just a little, I said to the mirror, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?", remembering the Snow White story. I can say I was more than surprised when the mirror answered back, "Jo is." Immediately after the mirror said that, i screamed, punted it into the air, and ran in the other direction. I looked at my watch and stopped running after about 2 minutes. Just then I heard a raven cawing, and thought that was MORE than a little ominous after I just used the Evil Queen's or Maleficent's mirror, you know, with ravens being their minions and all. Just then a hand grabbed my arm and I heard a voice as cold as ice say,"I see you found my mirror."
