When I woke up from being unconscious, I felt dizzy and on the verge of puking. I knew I was still in the vehicle due to the swaying movements. At first I thought I was in the trunk, until I heard the men who kidnapped me, talking amongst themselves. I couldn't quite make out what the men were saying, but they seemed to be arguing about something. They had blindfolded and gagged me with some sort of cloth. My wrists were tied behind my back, and my feet were tied together as well. I tried squirming around in an attempt to untie the knots, like I did back at the first motel, but these guys were too good; maybe even professionals. The knots were unlike anything I had ever dealt with before; and I'd done enough sailing to know pretty much every knot there was to know. These men definitely didn't want me to escape.
My heart rate went back to beating a mile a minute as I desperately continued moving around, trying to untie my wrists. I immediately stopped once I heard the men laughing.
"Nice try, young lady," said one of the men, and they all laughed in unison. "You're not going anywhere..."
I tried to yell out, "What do you want from me?" but all that came out were muffled words, stifled by the cloth over my mouth. I cried in fear, and my tears were soaked up by the blindfold. I wondered if Troy would come for me; if he would risk being caught trying to find where I was. I wouldn't blame him if he didn't. After all, it was me who was to blame for everything, and, he'd already done way more than he needed to. For whatever reason I was being kidnapped, I knew it had something to do with what I'd done back in New York.
The SUV suddenly stopped, and I felt like I was going to vomit. Was this the moment I was going to die? What were these men going to do to me? All I could think of was the very worst.
The men exited the SUV, and the back door was opened. One of the men lifted me out of the vehicle as if I weighed nothing, and stood me up on my feet. The motion of being lifted and flipped from side to side and then upright nauseated me that much more. The man then untied my feet. Then, another man moved in and grabbed my right arm while the first man grabbed me by the left.
We walked along like this for what felt like a mile or two, but were actually only a few moderate yards. My legs started to feel weak, and I couldn't support myself properly for much longer. It didn't matter though. The two men held me up just enough so that I barely even needed to walk. They practically dragged me for the rest of the way, until we arrived at, what I guessed, was a building. The neon lights made me able to see a bit through the thin blindfold, but I still couldn't make out anything other than shadows. I could hear voices, but they weren't from the men I shared the trip with. I had already become familiar with their voices. This voice was from someone new.
"Take her to the boss," said one man who was holding my arm, to the new arrival.
"Are you sure it's the right girl?" the new voice asked.
"Yes, it's Quinn Moore," replied the first man.
My heart sank into my stomach. I wasn't sure if they were now officially dealing with police, or if it was something a lot more terrifying. I concluded that I wasn't being taken into police custody with a blindfold, or by strange men referring to a police chief or sergeant as "the boss". My mind started running through all the horrible things that could possibly happen to me now that I was taken in such a manner and sent to the boss.
The men that were holding me pushed me towards a new set of men who took hold of me with much more aggressiveness than the last. I was sure to have bruises from their fingers on my arms and scratches from their nails as they firmly led me through the unknown building. I saw lights flickering as we walked down a hallway, but no one said a word. The men threw me into what I thought was some sort of jail cell.
