Sean's POV
"What is going on with you guys? You were perfectly fine last week." Jade asked, standing next to Alex. "Take 5- no, 10." She ordered, which we all obliged to.
I walked over to my bag and drank some water, sitting down next to Josh B. "Everything good? You've been tense all day." I asked, concerned. All day he'd been distant and strangely quiet. It just seemed like no one was, well, talking to each other. Like everyone was in their own worlds.
"Don't want to talk about it." He deadpanned, staring off into space. He let out a tired huff and leaned his head against the wall. "I do want to ask you a question though." His voice was dry and empty of emotion completely. I nodded, silently telling him to proceed.
"If you loved someone, but you knew that if you went for it, everything would crumble beneath your feet, would you risk it?" Josh asked. My head turned to him in confusion. What could he possibly be on about?
I saw as his gaze shifted and set on where the girls were, probably looking at his girlfriend. "Nat's good for you. I can see it. What happened? Do your parents not approve or something?" I questioned, attempting to perceive his thoughts.
Josh sighed and let out a slight chuckle. "I just need you to answer my question, Sean." His tone was almost sadistic. I breathed in sharply and let it out. "Well..if you need it that bad, yes. I would risk it. Some people are worth that. For you, it's Nat but for me, it's Kayc. Even though things could fall apart, it continuously feels like she's all that matters and that everything would be right in the world as long as she loves me." I shrugged with a small smile, getting lost in the feelings I have for my girlfriend.
He hummed in response then looked at me. "Thanks, man." He said, forcing a smile. "Anytime." I nudged.
"Can I talk to you after school? Maybe we can go to your place and chill there?" He asked, twiddling his fingers. I nodded, wrapping my arm around his shoulder. He smiled softly then jokingly shoved me off then stood up with me. I walked over to Kaycee and kissed her on the cheek sneakily before walking the other direction. I felt her glare on my back but kept walking anyway.
Our friends laughed at our silent banter, which I was thankful for since all of this tension was taking place. For some odd reason, Bailey and Ken weren't nearly as affectionate to each other as usual, Julian seemed tense, but that was probably because of the Chloe situation, Nat and Josh kept glancing at each other from across the room for the past half hour.
"Wait, baby, come here." Kaycee called. I instantly turned around to face her. Her soft hands gripped my arm gently, pulling me away from everyone else. "Do you know what's going on with Josh? He seems really upset." She asked in a hushed tone.
"No, but we spoke a little. He wants to talk after school." I informed her. Her eyes perked up and a small smile displayed itself on her face. "Great! We'll know what's wrong and we can solve it." She said in relief, starting to walk away but I grabbed her hand and pulled her to me gently.
"How's Nat? They've been eyeing each other all day. And I don't feel the usual..sexual tension." I said quietly. Kaycee looked down at her feet and moved them weirdly, suddenly fidgety. "She's the opposite. Talking more, being more affectionate, but it almost seems like she's trying to distract herself."
"...She also may or may not be giving me the cold shoulder." Kaycee added on, running a hand through her straightened locks. I was immediately perplexed. Who could ignore Kaycee? She's an angel that doesn't have a bad bone in her body.
"And I'm guessing you did nothing." I nodded along. "Nor did I say anything. We were fine yesterday. Everything was fine yesterday." She replied sadly. Kaycee let her head drop in defeat but I picked it up by putting my hand under her chin.
