What if you didn't save me?

Gladion's pov:
I was with ash after the final battle, we were just walking around generally exploring the league when we came across the skull gang with guzma leading
I don't have a good feeling about this..

They started yelling at us.. well the grunts, we said nothing, ash was listening to them while im clutching my pocket for the pokeballs incase they wanted to fight, thats when ash broke what their saying.

Ash's pov:
I was walking around with gladion when suddenly team skull scolded us
They were saying stuff like "you're just lucky that you win over the cool guzma" and bla bla bla

I simply had enough so i broke their chit chat with something im sure i messed up on

Ash: it more likely seems like you're not excepting defeat, rather you're surprised and dissapointed at guzma's loss.

I see in the corner of my eye that gladion was staring at me shocked, thats when i knew i say something harsh.. but honestly. They deserved it.

Gladion's pov:
Ash just say something i was not expecting he'll say and it made me shook. I was already preparing on what will happen, i started to picked out pokeballs i want to use because at this rate theres no way they're gonna shake it off without a fight.

In my surprise i was right, they started yelling at the new champion (ash) to battle them, guzma said nothing but i could tell by his facial expression that hes pissed off.
I have my right hand on ash's right shoulder to signal that he could accept it, And I won't mind

Then thats when i was surprised..

Team skull grunts: "hey kid I want you to defeat us! 5 of us cuz im sure ya can't defeat all of us so, well just do 5 instead! Oh and you blonde boy, youll be the refree!

Thats when my heart drop im not sure if he can take on 5 of them and im sure they'll picked out the tough ones.

I looked at ash that was thinking of a decision and he whisper to me

"Im gonna do it"

I shook my head and said
"Are you sure you're gonna be fine?"
Which he replies with a soft smile
"Ofc i would! I just defeated an island protector!"
I smiled in surprise which i nodded and smiled

Narrator:
After ash accepted the request he then picked out a place to start the battle. Since the stadium is all messed up from the fight between tapu-koko and him he then decided to battle somewhere outside

And with that the battle is starting.

Gladion: Everyone the rules are simple
1. Its a 6 vs 6!
2. You can use multiple pokemon!
3. If a pokemon faints a point will be driven to the winner!
With that said! Everyone let you're pokemon out!

Narrator: as gladion ordered them to let their pokemon out everyone obeyed and let all their 6 pokemon out of their pokeballs
And the battle starts

I was watching the fight as i realise that they were trying to damage ash instead by making dust around him/ rocks get thrown at him, they tried to make it look like they're fighting which honestly made me impressed that they manage to make me not realise what theyre doing

I looked at ash which was covering his eyes with his hand while giving orders to 6 different pokemons, his just amazing..

As i looked around i realise there is 1 grunt that was behind ash i thought he had a pokemon back there so i didnt say a thing.
What made my heart drop is that all of his pokemon are infront of him meaning that he does not have any pokemon to assist in the back
