“Hey, I almost forgot to give this to you,” Natsu said as we strolled through the dark of the night that had fallen over us silently. He dug through his pocket, and handed me a small, plain box. I cradled the box in the palm of my hand for a moment, before gingerly removing the top. Inside laid a golden key, the top part of it molded into a gentle heart.
“There, now you have the key to my heart,” The pinkette smiled cheekily, and removed the necklace from the small box.
“That’s very cheesy of you,” I laughed, and allowed the man to hang the golden piece of jewelry around my neck. I examined the necklace, and rubbed my thumb over it with a smile. “Thank you, Natsu. It’s so pretty,” I murmured.
“I was hoping you’d like it. It looks even prettier with you wearing it,” He whispered, the words spilling from his lips softly.
“Another compliment,” I laughed, and threw my arms over Natsu’s neck.
“Of course. One everyday,” He chuckled, and puffed a breath into my ear.
“Ah! What was that for?” I whined, rubbing my ear against my shoulder as of I’d rid of the strange feeling.
“I felt like it. C’mon, it’s getting even later,” He laughed, and took my hand before pulling me down the sidewalk.
“Ta-da!” The male cheered.
“Is this your house?” I asked, examining the small one-story home.
“Yep. It’s not much but your house is further so I decided to take you here,” Natsu smiled, and led me inside. Something furry brushed against my ankles, and I looked down to find a cat, its fur a soft bluish grey hue.
“I think he likes you,” Natsu chuckled, kicking his shoes off beside the front door.
“What’s his name?” I asked, bending down to stroke the feline, and he curved into my touch.
“Happy. You’ll probably find Carla somewhere around here.”
“Is Carla your other cat?” I asked, slipping off my boots and following Natsu into the kitchen.“Well yes, and no. She’s my sister’s cat. Happy’s mine,” He explained, and wandered over to the fridge.
“You have a sister?” Natsu nodded, tossing me a soda, which I gratefully accepted.
“Yeah, I thought you knew? Wanna meet her?” He grinned, setting down his awfully light-weighted sounding soda can.
“Sure,” I replied, glancing down at Happy again who seemed to be examining my ankles.
“Hey, Wendy! Come down here for a sec, would ya?” Natsu yelled, leaning against the round kitchen table. Soon, a young looking girl came tumbling down the stairs, her long indigo hair fanning over her head on the fortunately carpeted floor. She glanced up at me, her caramel eyes seeming to brighten before standing up and walking towards Natsu and I as if nothing had happened.
“Be careful next time, alright?” Natsu laughed, patting his sister on the head, and she nodded cheerfully, a cute smile adorning her young features.
“Hi! I’m Wendy,” The girl greeted politely.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Lucy.”
