Your majesty

chapter 1

Slam! "You! You're going to watch the boy while I'm out, got it?" A tall lanky lady had burst threw the door to a small room.

A pale girl looked up at her, she was obviously used to slamming doors and yelling because she had not jumped when the woman entered.

"Ok mom" the girl said quietly.

"And I want this house spotless when I get back, you hear me?!"

"Yes mom" the girl repeated.

"I'm off then" she slammed the door closed. Her footsteps echoed down the hall as she left the house.

"Sarah?" A little boy had entered the room unnoticed by Sarah.

"Come here Leo, it's ok"

The little boy was pale like his sister but he had red hair and not blonde.

"Mommy is scary, she is always yelling. Why does she hate us?" Leo looked up at Sarah and she could see tears forming in the corners of his eyes.

"She doesn't hate us, she is just stressed with work. And she is yelling because she wants to make sure we hear her"

She knew this was a flat out lie of course but anything to make Leo happy. Anyway, she couldn't let him hate his mom.

Her mom had always hated them, they were a reminder of her failed marriage. And she was drunk half of the time so that didn't really help the case.

"Let's go play something! Wanna play uno? Or spaceship? Or what about pirates?" Sarah said.

Leo hopped off the bed and said "let's play uno! Race you there!"

They ran down the hall to another small room and grabbed, by the look of it, some home made uno cards.

"I wanna shuffle this time!" Leo called

"Go for it."

"Come on Leo, I have to drop you off at school" Sarah was in the kitchen munching on a piece of toast.

"Coming!" Called Leo. He raced down the hall and grabbed a piece of toast from the toaster.

Their mom had not come home that night. Sarah suspected that she was at some guys house.

"Hurry hurry! We are going to be late!" Sarah started herding Leo out the door.

They got to the car and hopped in. "Now remember, I know 5th grade is hard but don't let anyone tell you your useless. And I don't want you to hang out with that Nicole girl, she was so rude to you last year"

"Ok Sarah, and I know 11th grade is hard but don't let anyone bring you down!" Leo smiled at Sarah and Sarah giggled.

"Ok Leo, you got it"

They arrived at the elementary school and Leo got out and waved goodbye.

Sarah sighed and drove off to her school.

"Class dismissed! Remember lunch is only 40 minutes, everyone should be on time to there next class!" Mr. Bishop called.

Sarah grabbed her books and walked out the door and into the large hall. She walked down the hall to a row of lockers.

"Ummm sorry but, that's my locker that your blocking. Please move" a boy was leaning on a locker with a group of people around him.

"Who are you?" He said raising an eyebrow.

He was one of the popular kids at school, and all of them thought they were all that mattered.
