Chapter 4

JAKE'S P.O.V

It was 3 A.M And all I remember was Summer screaming. "baby what's wrong?" I asked as I pulled her in close to me. I could tell she was trying to keep herself from crying as she answered "I had a nightmare that my dad actually hurt me enough that he killed me and then just left my body laying there" by this time she was sobbing into my chest. I persuaded her to forget about it and go to sleep. She finally agreed and we slept soundly the rest of the night.

SUMMER'S P.O.V

Jake and I both woke up this morning with the same thought running through our minds: how will we get all of my stuff... safely. We were avoiding the topic the whole morning, but as 12:30 rolled around Jake told me "we should go get your things." all I did was nod as usual. I showered and put on a creme sleeveless top and my favorite ripped hollister skinny jeans as we headed out on our "adventure". As we approached my house so many bad memories flooded my mind, all the times I was left to be peeled off the floor by the only person who really cared... Jake. I took the lead and was the first to climb up the fire ladder with Jake on my heels. We cautiously crept into my room and began to gather things up that I needed and put them on my bed until we found a bag. But before we could I heard someone come up the steps. All I did was mouth HIDE! To Jake and with that he dove to the far side of my bed out of view. The door opened and the man that cause me pain all these years emerged. Again he screamed "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN! YOU CAN'T LEAVE... I OWN YOU!" I cried back "oh yeah, watch me... I don't care if you own me or not I'm done and if you aren't okay with that I don't really care because I have truly had enough!!" and with that he walked over and asked "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!?" his face was steaming with anger as i retorted back "I was telling you how i feel, normal human beings do that ya know." and with that he grabbed my neck and just held me there...

JAKE'S P.O.V

I heard nothing... At all, and I knew something had to be wrong. I shot up from where i was so that he could see me and yelled "why do you do this to her?!" he set her down summer gasping for air without answering my question he asked Summer with an evil grin on his face "so is this where you have been running off to?" she gulped and got up but didn't say anything. I knew he would hit her if I didn't say something so I shot back at him "yeah she was with me, because I actually have the decency to treat her with respect unlike you." I saw his face turn red with anger as he screamed "YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR SAYING THAT... BOTH OF YOU!" tears started to fall down Summer's face " Summer just get out of here now I'll be fine don't worry." I tried to sell my point because if she stayed she would see me hurt as I knew if she saw that she would give in and stay and that house. Summer didn't move at all she cried again "no you're just saying that because you don't want me to see you get hurt and I won't let you do this alone."

SUMMER'S P.O.V

I'm not just going to leave him here to get hurt, I can't just do that after all that he has done for me. I kept my feet on the ground as I zoned out over thinking everything and trying to sort things out and keeping my guard up so that at least i may be able to shield myself if my father comes after me.... But, shielding myself wouldn't help because,It all happened so fast. I was picking up speed as I fell and felt numbness take over my body... I couldn't feel anything, for a few moments I felt paralyzed until I felt nothing at all.

JAKE'S P.O.V

I watched as the girl who was my whole world almost die, I watched the girl that is my everything get pushed out the window by the sick twisted man who has tormented her for three long years, it almost seemed to happen in one fluid motion. I ran over to the window where I saw her again literally lifeless body lay on the cool green grass. Her father left the room laughing. That is one of the most sick deranged things I have ever heard. Before he was out of earshot I ran over to the door and screamed "YOU ARE THE MOST SICK PERSON I HAVE EVER MET IN MY LIFE, SUMMER DOESN'T DESERVE ANY OF THIS!". After I said that I decided not to try and pick a fight because I knew I would be no match for him. So, I called 911 and watched as a man went over and put her on a stretcher an then back into the ambulance. I heard the wailing sirens fade out as I grabbed as many things as possible and put it in four big bags that filled my arms as I made my way down the fire ladder and made my journey from her old house to mine for one last time.
