They stood in the room waiting for someone to make a move. Liz in front of Quarrel glaring at him and Raylan behind with a gun.
"the humor in this situation is hilarious," Quarrels said.
"How?" Liz asked.
"Because you two really think you can best me," he laughed.
"You're the one with a gun to his head," Raylan commented.
"Doesnt meant I still cant make it out of here," Quarrels glanced back at him.
"Enough!" Liz yelled and threw a punch at Quarrels.
Unfortunately, her vision was still double and she was a little dizzy from the drugs in her system. She swung at one of the two Quarrel's she could see. She unfortunately, picked the wrong one. He grabbed her fist and twisted her arm, swinging her around putting her between him and Raylan. He leaned down so he could whisper in her ear.
"I should let you know Marshal," he hissed, "I was the one that put the bullet in poor Brooke."
Liz's eyes got wide and she looked back at the man.
"You son of a bitch!" she screamed.
"Let her go Quarrels!" Raylan yelled.
"Fine!" Quarrels grinned then shoved Liz forward.
She fell into Raylan knocking them both backwards. He dropped his gun and wrapped his arms around her to catch her. When he looked up, Quarrels was gone.
"Damn it!" he snapped.
"Raylan," Liz's legs gave up as she started to loose consciousness again.
"Ive got you Liz," he lowered her to the ground, "Ive got you."
"He killed her Raylan..." she got out, "he killed her....."
Liz passed in his arms. He sat there holding her for a few minutes. He pulled out his phone and called his fellow marshals and requested an ambulance presence.
"Ill get him Liz," He whispered to her, "Ill get him and Ill put him down."

Liz woke up in a hospital bed. She wasn't sure how long she had been out, but when she looked over and saw Raylan asleep in the chair next to her bed, she couldn't help but crack a smile. She tried to sit up but her whole body hurt. She flopped back down and rolled her head so she could see Raylan. She reached her hand out placing it on his shoulder. He stirred under her touch and looked over.
"Liz," he stood up and took her hand in his, "How do you feel?"
"Like I've been hit by a bus," she replied, "otherwise alright."
"They said Quarrels dosed you with Oxy," he informed her, "they were monitoring you as you went through the withdrawal and your injuries didn't help wither."
"It will take a lot to get rid of me Deputy Marshal Givens," She grinned.
"Good to see someone is still kicking!" Raven walked in with a couple coffees in hand.
This was the one time Liz wished Raven wasn't around. She wanted this moment to be just them. She just wanted to talk to the man that had become her closest friend and brother. She put on the fake smile and the fake joy of seeing her. She watched as she walked up and handed him his coffee with a kiss on the cheek, the twinkle in her eyes. For the first time, Liz felt a bit of jealously building up inside of her.
"How are you feeling Liz," Raven asked.
"Fine for now," she replied.
"I've got to go," Raven waved at Liz, "feel better girl! I miss my drinking buddy!"
After she was gone Liz decided to get serious.
"What happened with Quarrels?" she asked.
"We haven't found him yet but we think he's hauled up in Harlan," Raylan said, "In Nobles Holler."
"Limehouse making it an issue to get up there?" Liz asked.
"You've dealt with Limehouse," Raylan looked at her curiously.
"Once or twice," Liz recalled, "mostly had to listen to Art complain about warrants."
"Sounds about right." Raylan chuckled.

"So when you going after him," She asked.
"When Art gives the ok," Raylan replied.
"You waiting for Art to say so," she raised an eyebrow.
"Waiting for him to say its ok for you to go," Raylan continued.
"Why," she asked, "why waste time waiting on me when you could have ended this?"
"Because Liz," he started.
"No!" she cut him off, "This isnt like you! You are irrational and vengeful and angry! You dont wait to go after people who have harmed you or the ones you love! Snap out of this Raylan! Wheres the man that never let a criminal get the better of him!"
"Because you almost died Liz!" she stood up and his voice reminded her of how he spoke to Arlo, "Quarrels had you pumped so full of drugs and between that and your injuries your body was ready to give out!"
"What?" Liz looked at him confused.
"I couldn't stand to not be by your side if something happened to you," he let out a deep sigh, "I love you like a sister Liz, and I don't know what I would do without you."
"When Quarrels had me tied up in that room," she decided to admit, "I hit my lowest point and I found myself craving your presence. I screamed out your name begging you to come save me. I couldn't stand to die and have you find me in a gully or at the bottom of a mine shaft in Harlan or even for you to never know what happened."
"Liz," he sat back down, "Im so sorry, I..."
"Leave me alone Raylan," she snapped.
"Liz."
"I said get out!" she screamed.
He got up and walked to the door of the room. He turned around and looked her with hurt eyes. As he disappeared from sight, Liz felt tears well up in her eyes. She broke down sobbing into the hospital pillows. She feared she had just driven away her best friend, her brother, the only one who made her feel whole. She hurt in a different way this time, not physically, but emotionally. After she was done crying, she laid there thinking about the last few days. But the one moment she couldn't get out of her head was when she was calling out for Raylan to save her. He had given up chasing the man that had hurt her to be with her and she told him to leave.
