Just wait for me

"And then I just left bomb there, it exploded and I went to my house. Dad helped me with the wound and he just, shoved me into the car, leaving Veronica in Sherwood"

JD looked towards the outside world from the window, wondering if maybe Veronica was doing the same thing. He sighed and turned towards Carolina, who was writing something down in her little notebook.

"That's quite a story right there" She mentioned, her black eyes looking up to JD. He gave her a small nod, and looked towards the floor, not sure what she was thinking.

"It's more complex than what I was initially told, but it also makes sense" She stood up from her chair, and went to a coffee machine, where she served two cups of dark coffee.

"What were you told initially?" JD had wondered since the begging how did those two know about what had happened. It didn't make sense, and it was dangerous for him and Veronica. Did more people know? Was this all a trap to capture him? It wouldn't normally matter, but what if they'd capture Veronica too?

"Oh yeah- Well, we have a secret of yours, so you really can't tell our secret either" She reasoned with herself, going back to her crimson chair and handing JD one of the mugs, before sipping from her own mug.

"Daniel's dad was- or rather is, the head of an organization, you can say. They are basically a sub division of the police force. They indulge more into things and find mysteries faster" The girl closed her eyes, taking another sip from her coffee. JD really didn't trust drinking from a mug someone else offered. He should know better than anyone that's easy to trick someone into drinking... unwanted stuff.

"The division found out about the murder of Heather Chandler when the police investigated. The police didn't search for long after seeing the note, but the division did. The house had security cameras outside, in which was shown that you and that girl entered the house around the time the supposed 'Suicide' would have happened" JD looked at the girl with a face that showed many different emotions, confusion, fear, worry, anger.

"Then the boys. The police officers that discovered the crime said they heard the gun shots at separate times, which meant it wasn't a suicide, as they had to have killed themselves at the same time. Then it was discovered that Veronica Sawyer's car, or rather her parent's car, was seen nearby the crime scene, reportedly with two teens in it. This all led to you two as the murderers, and more and more pieces have been fitting since" Carolina ended her explanation, to then stand and clean her cup.

"Huh... we weren't as clever as I thought" JD remarked humorously, a grin appearing on his face. But he wasn't happy, not happy at all. He had thought of himself as a mastermind, his plans were perfect, but apparently they were not.

"No no no, don't get me wrong. Your plans were really good, specially for someone of your age. It's just that the division has a lot of resources and have been doing this for years" She sat down again and eyed at the untouched mug "Are you gonna drink that?" She pointed at the mug.

"Wait.... if you know all this, why aren't we in jail? I mean, murder isn't something you really skip through, unless you benefit from it" Jason said, crossing both of his arms in a questioning manner.

"Now now, the reasons is fairly simple. Daniel was part of that case, of your case, and he said he... saw something? I don't know, he watches too many Disney movies. Anyway, the division decided it was too little of a case, and left it to me and Daniel, who uh- well we didn't know what to do at first" She slightly laughed at that, scratching the back of her neck.

"Well, in the end we found you would be moving here thanks to your dad's contacts. Daniel appointed himself to your school, and now we are here." She looked at JD with a serious face and place her hand on his shoulder "I understand you don't trust us, I mean, you have no reason to, but we really want to help you" She paused and looked out the window, smiling in an endearing way.

"I can see that you love her, I really do. We are gonna use her as your pushing motivation from now on. Something that makes you want to continue, that gives you the strength to be better" JD looked at Carolina and smiled at the mention of his dear Veronica. This was for her, for both of them, he wanted a normal life with her, and this would let him do it.

JD took a sip of the coffee, and when he confirmed it wasn't poison, he drank it all, thanking Caro and passing the cup to her. When she was done washing the cup, she sat down in front of him once more and gave him a smile before reaching into her pocket and getting something out.

"I found this between the evidence and resources for the investigation. I thought you might like it" She then handed to JD a photo. His eyes widened at the sight of her, of Veronica. It was her school year photo, the one they put in the school's journal.

JD smiled in pure ecstasies. He hadn't seen her face in so long it felt like a torture made in hell, but now he was looking at her, and all his worries drifted away. Sure, it was just a photo, but he had been starving of her for so long it didn't matter if it was a photo, a painting or just her voice.

He approached the photo to his heart and closed his eyes, a wide smile showing in his lips. "Just wait for me, I'll be there before you know it" He whispered, feeling as if he was talking to her once more, it was as if he could feel her warm embrace around him.

He placed the picture on his wallet, and waved Carolina a goodbye, not before thanking her a thousand times for the incredible gift she gave him.

He was happy, he finally felt happiness again by just looking at Veronica's face. He finally was able to place a real smile upon his face, and once again, it was thanks to Veronica Sawyer.

He couldn't even imagine what he would feel once he met her again, how his heart would bump, how his palms would sweat, how his eyes would blur. He was pretty sure he would faint by just looking at her. He couldn't wait for that moment.
