Chapter 3 - The contract

Reader´s P.o.v.

At first I thought nothing at all about this new person. Determined, nice, polite and a cadet at the survey corps. At least that is what they had told me, but what now showed me at the sight of him, was the exact opposite.

He was lying on his bed, weeping and muttering something to himself and just looked broken.

Did they lie to me again? Or had someone done something to the boy?

I walked over to the boy and laid myself beside him in the bed.

Why?

He seemed so lonely, I couldn´t let him alone like this and just come back the next morning. It had practically broken my heart to see him like this. Normally I´m not that fast with caring for a stranger, but he seems to be something special.

I sat down in the middle of the top of the bed and pulled him into my lap. He didn´t seem to notice it, so exhausted was he. I sighed and gently stroked his hair while he slept peacefully in my arms.

The next morning:

Eren´s P.o.v.

Slowly I blinked my eyes open. They were still burning a little from the crying yesterday. Strangely, I haven´t had nightmares this night. So I tried to use this opportunity and once again cuddled myself back to what I was thinking was my pillow. But somehow it felt strange and something was breathing behind me. I slowly opened my eyes again and looked down on me.

What I had thought was the hug from my blankets was actually a real hug! I could see two arms wrapped around my waist. On the hands, I could see that it was a girl.

But who was she and what is she doing here? Was the light from yesterday not an imagination?

Panic rose in me and I started to become red when I realized what I had been using as a pillow. I pushed her arms away from me and jumped to the other corner of the room. Now I was finally able, even if it is very dark here, to look at her.

She had beautiful ( h / l ) ( h / c ) hair which fell softly into her face. She was wearing a dark blue dress and her sleepy ( e / c ) eyes stared at me a little surprised and sleepy. Her skin was soft and looked perfect, she looked like an angel.

But from where did she come from? I have never seen such clothing here. Normally, only nobles in Sina had such clothing, but what should they want here?

While I just was staring at her all the time, she fixed her hair a little and sat up. When she tried to get up, I began to panic. She could indeed be and enemy, like another Titan shifter which wanted to kidnap me.

"S-Stay where you are!" I called out to her in a shaky voice.

She looked at me confused, but remained on the bed.

"W-Who are you and what are you doing in my bed?!" I just asked and made myself ready for a fight.

"Didn´t you call me? Didn´t you call for help yesterday?" She asked, smiling at  me a little.

"What...What do you mean?" I calmed down a bit but now I just am confused.

Yes, I have called for someone but I couldn´t have known that somebody actually comes!

"I was, as a guardian angel, decided for you because you had called for help. However, you can also refuse if you´d rather be alone." She explained.

Her sweet voice echoed a little in the cell.

"What? A guardian angel? I understand nothing..."

I sat down beside her and buried my face in my hands to be able to thing better.

I looked again at her.

It´s true, she seemed somehow different from everyone else but I could not explain why.

"If you are and angel, where are your wings?"

"We can make them disappear if we don´t need them. Otherwise, they use too much space. Want to see them?"

I just nodded a little. She smiled at me and stood up. She stood in front of me and suddenly a bright blinding light lit up in the small cell. I had to protect my eyes with my hands, so strong was it.

As the light faded away again, I looked back up at her. When my view fell on her now really existing wings, I could feel how my eyes widened. Her wings were quite large and in a beautiful white color that was almost blinding. I noticed one thing that seemed odd to me. One of her wings was not as white as the other. On the contrary, it even had a slight bluish color.

"Am I the first angel you see?" She finally asked, which surprised me and tore me away from staring at her wings.

"Uh...yeah... or can you see them that often?"

She giggled.

"No, not really, but there is someone in your near environment which also has a guardian angel."

"Really? Who?"

"I can´t tell you, but you will certainly find out. Now to the reason why I´m here."

Her wings began to become more and more transparent until they completely disappeared.

"We are here to support people and protect them. Furthermore, we must obey every command of them. Will you accept me or reject?" She asked, looking at me seriously with her beautiful eyes.

Oh wow, those eyes....

Apparently I had lost myself again in her eyes because she suddenly waved her hand before my face.

"Are you okay?" She asked finally.

"Eh...Yes, I´m sorry that I was not paying attention."

"It´s all right. So what? How do you choose?"

"I don´t know myself about all this guardian angel stuff, but it sounds interesting. So I´d say yes."

She smiled at me and I really have to admit that I have never seen such a beautiful girl in my life so far.

"Then we must make the contract now!" She said, and clapped her hands.

"Contract?"

"Yes, a contract. It is there that we are connected. Each person can have only one angel, you know? In addition, the person is committed to be loyal to the angel. That means when you make out, for example, with some other angel, you´re going to die of a heart attack. However, I can also delete the contract and let you go. Do you agree?"

"I don´t know another angel anyway, so I say yes."

"Okay!" she smiled at me again and held her hands over each other, like she has something in her hands. Then a light lit shortly the cell and suddenly she had a small box in her hand. She opened it in front of me and I could see two rings. They looked as if they were made of crystal and shone a little bluish.

"You are really sure?" She asked again and looked at me serious.

"Yes. My situation can only get better. It can´t get more worse like it is at the moment."

She nodded at me and took my hand to put on the ring. It fit perfectly. Then she put the other one on her own hand and put her hand on mine. She muttered something and suddenly I head a clink. She pulled her hand away and something like a chain was linking our rings. Confused, I looked over at her.

"Don´t worry, this is only there if we lose ourselves that we can find us again. You won´t feel it any longer and it also will become invisible until you touch your ring and say Show me the way to ( y / n ). Got it?"

"( Y / n )? Who is that?"

"Oh yeah! I totally forgot about that! My name is ( y / n ) ( l / n ) and I am now your guardian angel!"
