Talk about a first impression

No POV:

As the doctors operated on Lily-Mae Gemma was explaining that on the way to the hospital Lily-Mae CODED twice but she was able to sign consent for the operation. Jax placed his head in his hands as Happy placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and Tig was chating with one of the nurses to see if there was any news but because they had no proof of being family they were told nothing apart from she has to have Heart Bypass surgery. Making Gemma hold her breath as she teared up and hug Jax close while Clay rubbed circles on her back.

~~~~~~~8 hours later~~~~~

When the doctor came to talk to Gemma he was looking tired but relived. "You lot here for miss Light?" when Clay nodded the doctor said "Well it was a tough 8 hours, took longer than usual,  but she should be ok we are going to want to keep her here for observation and then when we discharge her we will be prescribing medication for the pain and for CHD." Jax let out the breath he hadn't realized he was holding before shaking the doctors hand and said "Thank you " before asking "it took longer than usual was everything ok?" 

The doctor shook his head laughing before saying "we were finishing the stitches when she woke up and scared the shit out of everyone by saying you better not have stolen my kidneys. Never in my 25 years of working as a heart surgeon has that happened to me. But you are welcome to wait in the room till she wakes up properly." Happy and Tig laughed before looking at each other and thought 'she's defiantly a Teller. Girl has a set of titanium balls on her' whilst the others shook their heads in disbelief but where in a state of relief.

Whilst Gemma went to the desk to arrange for her to be transferred the men went to her room and saw her sleeping on the bed with a large padded bandage on her chest. Sitting down beside her bed Jax had to resist the temptation to take her little hand in his and looked over his shoulder when Clay shook his head saying "you ready for this conversation when she wakes up. cuz your mother is defiantly not leaving her here now". Jax nodded and said "No way in hell am i leaving her now. Missed 17 years of her life. No more not now" Clay nodded before sitting on the opposite side of her bed.

It had to have been 40 minutes before Lily-Mae had started to come around and when she did she didn't expect to see 4 men in a room she didn't recognize while having pain on her chest. Looking down she saw her chest wrapped and went to remove the bandage only for the her hand to be grasped lightly by a man with bright blue eyes and black fuzzy hair " Leave those alone princess you've just had surgery" When she looked around she realized that these men where with Gemma and that the last thing she remembered was asking doctors if they stole her kidneys.

Coming out of her stupor she said "Who are you again and not be rude but why are you here?" He smiled before saying "Just call me Tig sweetheart that's Clay , Happy and Jax. The lady you talked to earlier Gemma shes outside"

Lily-Mae's POV:

When i looked at the men who matched the names I noticed Jax and were looking incredibly worried and the man named Happy looked like a grump. Feeling a giggle burst from my throat i saw them look to each other confused before Clay spoke "You had laughing gas Lily?" i shook my head and pointed to Happy with a shaky giggle "The irony of being called Happy and looking like were slapped in the face with a wet kipper" before in knew it the three men joined in my giggling and Happy just shook his head muttering something under his breath.

When i caught my breathe i voiced my confusion "So i get that you are here for someone you know but why does it need five people?" Clay looked at me then to Jax and Jax nodded before sitting on the tip of his chair and said "Did your mum ever say anything about your dad?" i shook my head and took a calming breath before saying "No Jane never said anything about him. When i spoke to my case worker about him she had documents from Jane saying that she told him about me once but he claimed i wasn't his. So other than that no" When i mentioned that i saw Jax wince and the other men look at him in a mix of disbelief and anger.

I looked towards Jax and noticed the similarities between myself and him before looking to everyone else and back to him. "Your my dad aren't you?" when he lifted his head from his hands i saw the guilt and sadness in his eyes and new my answer. Nodding my head i said "So what happens now?". I saw them all look towards each other but before anyone could speak Gemma entered the room and smiled when she saw me awake. She sat on the end of my bed and placed a hand on my leg.

"Hey sweetheart how are you feeling?" And of course me not having any filter said the first thing that came to mind. "Well that depends. Are you asking from the perspective of i just had a heart attack, died three times and had heart bypass surgery OR That i just found out that the man sat next to me is my dad? Because they're 2 very different answers". You could physically see the shock on everyone's faces at my answer until Tig started to laugh and Clay groaned "Oh god there's 2 of you".

Gemma smirked and said "well i guess i should tell you that im your Grandma and Clay is my husband" as i looked at the three people that are classed as my 'family' i took in the resemblance and theorized that Clay must be a step father to Jax making Clay Gemma's second husband. "Yeah i can see the resemblance". 

Then a nurse came in with some paperwork that needed to be signed. "Miss Light we have your paperwork for you to be transferred to ST. Thomas as you requested" as i was about to question her Gemma stood from where she was sat on the end of my bed and  took the papers "Thank you. Ill drop them off for you when she's signed them" The nurse left and i looked at her with an eyebrow raised in question. "Any reason why i am being transferred out of town Gem?" she looked at me placing the paperwork on my lap before saying "There is no way in hell am i going to leave my grand daughter here on her own when she has the family flaw and im sure as hell not leaving you now. I look after family." Looking at the determined fire  in her eyes i could tell i wasn't going to win this argument. But answered what was on my mind anyway "I dont even know what having a family would feel like. I haven't had one since Jane started doing drugs when i was 2. I've had to look after myself since i was 3. Why would i need one now?".

I could feel myself becoming emotional and i didn't like it. I didn't know how to let people take care of me because I've never had someone take care of me. It's always just been me and later on it was just me and Twitch. I felt someone grab my hand and looked to see Jax had taken my hand in his, practically swallowing the thing, and looked at me with pleading eyes. "Please Lily-Mae. I can't lose you. I've lost my brother to this, Abel has it, mum has it. I need to make sure your safe. Please sign the papers. Please."

Looking at the man beside me i could see the struggle to hold back the tears. I should know i've been doing the same thing since i was 4. But did i really care what he wanted?, When i was younger all i wanted was for someone to save me, someone to love me and a place to call home and my wish never came true. However as i took in the words he had spoken to me i thought through my options.

Yes he had claimed i wasn't his and has only met me yesterday bu he is trying now and is trying to make things right by the look if it. Sighing i picked up the pen on top of the paper work and signed my name on the last page. Gaining sounds of relief through out the room. Jax squeezed my hand before letting it go and from the corner of my eye i saw him wipe his cheeks and smirked slightly. 'huh who would have thought the big bad biker does cry'
