Deathbringer

"Not happening my Queen,"

"Yes! I am your Queen I'm pretty sure I can order you to sleep you mangos for brains."

"Hmm" Deathbringer said, not very intelligently. However his eyes were on the irritated, but gorgeous, Rainwing. Speaking of eyes, his were currently threthening to close but he straightened himself, refusing to leave his Queen unguarded for even a second. He tried multiple things to stay awake. Filling his mind with all the thoughts of why he couldn't leave her unguarded and how much he loved her. "I think that would cassify as abusing your power." He observed, jumping back into the conversation as his eyes began to drop again.

No, no no no no. Don't fall asleep. Deathbringer quit it!

He forced his eyes open and lahsed his tail at himself. He made himself look at his Queen, the only thing keeping him awake and concentrated on thier surroundings, trying to stay awake as much as he possibly could.

They were inside of Glory's hut. It was night and very late. Glory had gotten sick of him not sleeping for the past couple of days so she also stayed up, practically scolding him. She kept pacing around with most of her scales being an irritated orange but he was able to spot a worried green along her wings.

'Aw you're worried about me' he was tempted to say teasingly. However he was so tired he didnt think he'd be able to stand upright after Glory hit his nose.

"Deathbringer seriously you haven't slept in days." Glory stopped pacing for a moment to face him, then continued pacing around with the same angry and worried expression. She probably wasnt going too fast, but to Deathbringer's brain, it was staring to give him a headache. Glory's orange tail lashed around near her desk. She knocked over some scrolls and a small bottle of ink from it. However, she didn't seem to care.

The assassin flared his wings slightly in a mock offended gester. "And I'm fine, really. I'm a Nightwing." Deathbringer insisted, watching the ink splatter on the ground, the way Glory's scales might change when she suddenly felt irritated. His eyes then darted to the scrolls that fell down, they landed with a soft thump, that gave him a bit of strange deja vu he couldnt quiet place his talon on, and were halfway unrolled.

The Nightwing yawned, despite his best efforts not to. Normally he would have falled asleep right outside her hut just fine but not tonight. Something told him that his Queen was in danger, so he would guard her day and night until whatever was a threat wasn't a threat anymore to her.

Was it foolish? To most Dragons it most likely was, but not to Deathbringer. He had a Queen to protect.

Glorys mind was somewhere else, lost in thought. But Deathbringer caught her muttering something under her breath, something along the lines of "Stupid smug Nightwing...." as more frustrated colors splashed all over her scales and rubbed her temples. Her ruff flaring slightly as she sat down. However, despite his exhaustion the assassin couldn't resist.

"Don't forget handsome."

Glory looked up, irritation sparked in her eyes. "Deathbringer why are you up? To protect me, right?" She said answering her own question with a slight frown. She then rose her wings slightly and pointed out, "Well, if someone attacked me I would be dead. You are in no condition to fight. I mean you cant even keep your eyes open." She poked his chest with one claw.

Deathbringer yawned, then smirked. "Ah so you admit you need me."

Glory frowned in annoyance. "You are so infuriating. You know full well that, thats not what I was saying. You need sleep."

"How will I protect you if I'm asleep?"

"That's just it!" His Queen cried out, lifting her talons in the air. "You don't and that's fine because you need to sleep Deathbringer!" Glory flared her wings angrily.

Deathbringer leaned forward and smirked. "Aww look at how much you care about me."

Glory growled and stopped pacing, which was good because her moving was starting to tire his eyes. She acted as if she hadn't heard his comment, despite her ruff now turning pink. "Seriously, I don't know why you dont just get your own hut instead of sleeping outside of mine like some kind of stalker." She snapped.

"If I did I wouldn't be so close to you my love." The Nightwing replied smoothly.

Glory growled again and shifted her wings, something she did when trying to hide the emotions popping up on her scales. "Its not hard to hit you on the nose when you say sappy things like that." She paused, "Why won't you just go to sleep, I seriously have to tell everyone else in my kingdom to not sleep all the time. Its ridiculous."

It was true, while the Rainwings had always had a liking for sleeping, the Nightwing tribe had picked up on it too. While none of them had suntime, they were often found sleeping in their huts during that time. Making suntime enjoyable for both tribes. No Nightwings complaining on how lazy Rainwings were and no Rainwings comparing about how loud the other tribe was.

Why they enjoyed the extra sleep Deathbringer could only guess. Being a light sleeper, he never saw point in sleeping in the middle of the day where the most exciting events happened.

"True," Deathbringer replied outloud then shrugged. "I have to protect you, that is my job after all. The only way I would be able to sleep is if you were by my side." The Nightwing smirked.

"That's not happening."

"Well them I'm not sleeping either." Deathbringer replied a little stubbornly.

Glory shrugged as if she didn't care. "Well fine if you dont want to sleep then don't, its not my problem." She then sat up neatly and walked over to her hammock, which was only a few feet away and placed her head on her talons comfortably as she curled up. She then closed her eyes, doing her best to ignore the Nightwing.

Deathbringer smiled and walked up to the hammock she was laying in before climbing on himself, carefully, trying not to throw the hammock of balance. Which he had to admit, would be pretty funny if it did happen. He then curled up around her, however she didnt pull away. Even though her back was to him Deathbringer knew she was letting out one of those sweet, small smiles that she gave to nobody else.

"Why don't you just admit you care?" He asked softly in her ear once he got comfortable.

"I don't." Was her only reply. But Deathbringer could see it was a lie, she did care even if she wouldn't admit it outloud. His Queen didn't admit lots of things outloud. Like how she loved him, or how much she cared about him, or the fact that she did want to sleep next to him. But that was alright, because he knew what she meant, he understood her like no other dragon in Pyrriah could.

Deathbringer wrapped a wing around her protectively. He placed his head next to Glory's and wrapped his tail around hers, trying to get as close to her as possible. To all the contact, the Rainwing did not move or flinch. She only leaned closer into his side breathing peacefully. Deathbringer watched her relax for a moment.

For once she let colors splash on her scales without a care. Deathbringer didnt quiet know what the colors meant but her face was peaceful, and that was good enough for him. He smiled and closed his eyes, glad to be so close to this dragon. Finally being able to fully relax for the first time in a few days, he let his wings drop and his eyes close without a care in Pyrriah.

He spoke softly even though he knew Glory was already asleep.

"Good night my Queen."
