The subway whistled past in a blur. He stared blankly trying to forget everything that happened that day. His dirty blonde hair was soaked and draped over his eyes. Everyone gave him a wide berth as they though he was crazy. He shivered slighty but he tried not to move as if he didn't want to be seen. Only a little girl a few feet away stared at him in childlike curiosity. "Mom what is wrong with that man? He looks cold." "Never mind him dear just keep studying you want good grades don't you?"

The girl pried her eyes away from the strange man and went back to work. The subway station was very brightly lit. The fluorescent lights pierced through the grime of the floor and the hard seats. It was a terrible place to hide, especially for this strange man wet head to toe. It seemed like hours went by before the man moved shakily to his front pocket. He pulled out a wet sodden piece of white paper and quickly unfolded it. To the naked untrained eye it had indecipherable language. The man though understood it all too well. He began mumbling under his breath the strange words. People walked by in their business suits and formal attire not batting an eye. It was New Wark City after all. No one had time to inspect the strange man nor cared for his well being. Caught in the rat race of life they couldn't see what was right in front of them. No matter how important.

"Can you believe it? That damn mayor is making a fool out of himself! Raising the tax rate to 14 percent! I tell ya I'm getting out of this shithole! mark my words if its the last thing I do!"
A portly man replied as he took a smoldering cigar out of his mouth. "I know it's a shame, this city used to be the best now it's nothing. Maybe we are in the wrong line of business?"

The man kept muttering the strange words conversations happening all around him. The lights began to flicker on and off. Happening more frequently people began to notice and stopped, if only for a brief second. "See! They can't even keep the lights on down here! Takes too many idiots to change them out!" A low rumble could be heard. It began to get progressively louder and louder. One light busted a few feet away from the strange man. People shrieked as they ran away. "What the hell!? now their exploding!"  The bright lights all shut off. Darkness ensued panic as people screamed and ran up the subway station stairs. The rumble began to shake the ground as the benches rattled.  Sweat dripped down the mans head as he quivered in fear. "Shit."
