Aadhya’s  POV

I  heard  my  heart  beating  rhythmically,  then  the  intensity of  sound  started  increasing  and  suddenly  it  started  to  beat frantically,  I  woke  up  and  shut  the  alarm.  It  is  5am.

Yeah  my  alarm  tone  is  my  own  heart  beat,  as  it  wakes  me up,  it  assures  me  that  I  am  still  alive  and reminds me that a  new  day  is waiting for me to  enjoy  and  cherish.

I  quickly  rushed  to  bathroom,  brushed  my  teeth  and washed  my  face.  I  changed  into  black  track  pant  and  a white T-shirt  with  blue  strips,  then  I  wore  my  favourite  hoodie  on top  of  that  and  got  ready  with  the  sneakers  for  the  jog.  I am  an  early  bird  and  a  health  freak.

As  I  opened  the  door,  cool  breeze  engulfed me  which is so refreshing.  I  took  out  my  bicycle    and  headed  straight  to Kukkarahalli  Lake  (Kukkarahalli  Lake  is  situated  in  the  heart of  Mysore  city,  adjoins  the  University  of  Mysore,  the Kalamandir  and  the  Central  Food  Technological  Reasearch Institute).  There  is  a  4.5  km  walkway  at  the  periphery  of the  lake.  This  is  where  I  jog  everyday,  enjoying  its  scenic beauty.

I  jogged  2  rounds  and returned home.  I checked  my  phone,  Ohh  wow  I  burn’t  700  calories  and it  is  6:30am. I  entered  home  there  stood  my  darling  mom  in the  kitchen.

“Hey  sweetie,  Good  morning,  you  came  back.  Take  this” handed  over  a  cup  of  green  tea.

“Good  Morning,  Amma(Amma means Mother)”  I  gave  a  peck  on  her  cheek  and took  the  tea  from  her.

“Good  Morning  Appa(Appa means Father)”  hugged him from behind who is reading newspaper  sitting  on  the  sofa. I  am  papa’s  girl.

“Good  Morning  dear”  Papa gave his trademark smile.

After  finishing  the  tea,  I  put  the  cup  in  the  sink.

I  headed  back  to  my  room  pulled  over  the  yoga-mat  to  do some  yogasana  and  pranayama.  I  finished doing everything.  As  I am about  to enter bathroom  to  take  shower,  my phone  started  to  ring. “Dare  Devil”  flashed  on  the  screen.  I was  shell  shocked,  is  it  8th  wonder  or  what?

“I  will  be  there  within  10  min”  that’s  it  she  cut  the  call, didn’t  even care to  hear from  me.

I  checked  the  time,  it  is  7:45am.  Holy  moly  what  on  the earth,  am  I  hallucinating,  I  pinched  myself  it  hurts  like  hell and  yes  it  is  for  real.  Jess  called  me  in  the  early  morning and  saying  she  will  be  here  within  10min.  Yeah  it  is  early morning  for  her.  She  won’t  wake  up  before  8:00am  during college  days  and  during  holidays  don’t  even  ask.

One  day  I gave  her  a  full  gyaan  about  the  importance  of  maintaining health  and  somehow  managed  her to agree to come  for  the  jog  with  me.  As  she  promised  she  came  but what  she  did  was epic,  she  jogged  for  about  10 min  and  after that  she  suddenly  vanished.  I  started  to  worry and  began searching  her.  There  I  saw  her  peacefully sleeping  on  the  stone  bench.  I  tried  waking  her  up but she didn’t  even  move  a  bit. She  is  just  a  Kumbhkaran(a character from Ramayan, brother of Ravana) when  it comes  to  sleep  and  food.  I finished  my jogging  and  went  back  home  leaving  her  there  itself  to  see what  she  is  going  to  do.  She  peacefully  slept  upto  10:00am and  then  she  came  back  home.  This  is  how  my  dear Kumbhkaran  is.

I  know  today  is  our  first  day  of  final  year  college  but  still she  is  not  the  kind  of  person  who  will  wake  up  early  for the  sake  of  college.

We  both  are  doing
M.Sc. Mathematics,  it  was  her  choice  to take  up  maths  because  she  loved  maths.  For  me,  I  liked  all the  subjects  and  education  is  all  about  gaining  knowledge, so  I  didn’t  think  much  about  it.  And  moreover  we  didn’t  want to  get  separated  in the name of studies so  we  both  ended  up  taking  math.

Whatever  in  the  shocked  state  itself  I  went  to  take  shower. I wondered how did we even end up being friends. There came a flash of memories which are still fresh.

Here begins the tale...........
